Rogue Process @ GDC
Release date: Late 2017

Rogue Process is an action stealth game about typing to hack things. You play as a renegade hacker who makes a living smashing corporate security systems, stealing dark secrets and diving from the tops of exploding skyscrapers in slow motion. You can hack almost anything to suit the situation: breaking windows and wiping camera feeds; venting toxic waste to flush out guards or self-destructing a satellite to blow the side off a building. Buy software, sell secrets, take contracts and leave no traces.

Hacking things in Rogue Process is as simple as typing a word: as soon as you enter hacking mode, time slows down and your deck reveals all the nearby hackable nodes. Want to hack that camera over there? Type its name, hit enter, and you've got three seconds to sneak by it. Your deck is also how you activate upgrades and augmentations. Guards giving you a hard time? Type SHOCK and hit enter, and your electroshock suit will take care of the rest.

Doing that while throwing yourself through glass windows, dodging killer drones, siphoning data from servers and disarming vault locks is a little harder than it sounds, of course.

Here's some of the cool stuff we have in store for you in Rogue Process:
  • BLAZE A PATH ACROSS A FUTURISTIC SKYLINE: Take contracts to survive the night - infect datacentres, steal brainchips, sabotage prototypes and much more.
  • A PROCEDURAL CITY: Hit procedurally generated skyscrapers, packed with areas like research labs, industrial warehouses, executive offices and sealed vaults.
  • SOFTWARE UPDATES ARE AVAILABLE: Unlock and install new technology to use to your advantage, like glitch camouflage, pocket jetpacks, reflective magshields or electroshock plating.
  • EVERYTHING CAN BE HACKED: Disable cameras, confuse drones, lock doors or siphon data - every bit of corporate mainframe is yours for the taking.
  • DATA RETENTION POLICY: A city-wide security web watches and adapts to your moves, dynamically improving corporate security to fight your hacking style.
  • AN EXCITING STARTUP CULTURE: Procedurally generated corporations persist between games, and rise and fall based on your successes and failures.

Mike Cook is designing and coding Rogue Process. He's been making games for years, in his spare time and in his day job as an AI researcher. In his research he made ANGELINA, an AI that designs games, but now he prefers making games himself. He's pouring all his knowledge of procedural generation and artificial intelligence into Rogue Process' systems and enemies.

Marsh Davies is a writer, illustrator, critic and general creative genius, and he's behind Rogue Process' unique and beautiful colours, art and animation. You've probably heard him on podcasts like the Crate and Crowbar, or seen his writing in Edge or Rock, Paper, Shotgun, or enjoyed his friendly face working over at Mojang!

We're still working to find a musician to provide music for the game. If you want to know more about that, keep an eye on our website ( or our Twitter (@rogue_process).

We can't wait to share our game with you, and voting for us on Greenlight will really help us reach a huge audience of Steam users. Thanks so much for checking out our page!

This is like the cyberpunk version of Gunpoint but with a fast typing mechanic rather than a strategic rewire mechanic. I LOVED Gunpoint and so my initial attraction to this game is that it looked like Gunpoint. Tom's building cutaway style is great and I've noticed a lot of games have used that. Mimincry is not a bad thing when you do it well (and give a little credit to the germ idea). So, I'm REALLY looking forward to Rogue Process!!!!

Hey Macc! Thanks for the support. The game's kind of serious in tone (you're doing stuff like murdering corporate executives and destroying biological warfare research) but there's a lot of goofy details in the world, and there's a lot of slapstick from the physics too!

Also is it more humerous or more serious?

This looks awesome! I really hope it gets greenlighted. Where would you see the price of it?
