Three and a half minutes of alpha gameplay
Hello, Greenlight!
Release date: 2017
A collection of short adventures, on a single afternoon, in a faraway city...

Anthology is a collection of short adventure games by Lewis Denby (that's me!), the co-creator of Owl Cave's critically acclaimed Richard & Alice and the producer of Sepulchre (The Charnel House Trilogy).

Set in a faraway city on a single afternoon, a series of point-and-click vignettes unravels the story of this strangely familiar world, its sprawling capital, and the lives of those who dwell within it.

Who the heck is behind this nonsense?

I've been in and around the video games scene for a decade now, and have worked on - ooh - about ten or fifteen games in total. You won't have heard of a lot of them, but the ones you might have heard of are Richard & Alice and The Charnel House Trilogy - the former of which I co-created and directed, and for the latter of which I acted as producer and developer of the middle chapter, Sepulchre.

A lifelong fan of adventure games, I like to use the medium to tell unpretentious, human stories. And then write about them on Steam Greenlight in a pretentious, robotic manner.

For Anthology, I've teamed up with two absolutely spectacular individuals. Khaled Makhshoush is a wonderful pixel artist who's been helping me flesh out the world design and has created some gorgeous backdrops for the city in which the games take place. And Francisco Gonzalez - a.k.a. Grundislav Games, the chap behind A Golden Wake and Lamplight City - has been designing, drawing and animating Anthology's cast of characters.

Why should I vote for this on Greenlight?

People seemed to really like the games I've made in the past. People are delightful. It's almost six years (!!!) since I began work on Richard & Alice, and I like to think I've improved a lot in that time - as a game designer, writer, human being etc. If you liked the sort of story we told in Richard & Alice (although a huge quantity of the credit for that must go to Owl Cave's CEO, Olivia White, who was the game's lead writer), I reckon you'll get something out of Anthology too. Its format is different, certainly, but the focus on world-building, human stories and logical puzzles is right at the heart of what we're trying to do here.

Also if you don't vote for us I'll poke you in the eye.

An obligatory list of features!
  • A compilation of several short adventure games, each 15-45 minutes long
  • Individual stories that come together to reveal the bigger picture
  • Logical puzzles that don't involve combining the rake with the alpaca
  • Splendid pixel-art graphics from a pair of pixel maestros!
  • At least two creepy children
  • None of the voice acting is terrible! (Because there isn't any.)
  • Five stories.
  • One city.
  • One afternoon.

@PossiblePsycho That's Olivia's game, not mine! We continue to support each other's endeavours but this is completely separate from Owl Cave. I'm desperate to play Augur Peak too!

Upvoted, of course, but... what about Augur Peak? :miniglottis:

@ALE199-ITA Thanks for the vote of confidence! It may be of interest to you that the game certainly won't be $20 - much more like the $5-10 price point. So perhaps you will change your mind...? :-)
