World War 2 Lite Custom Campaign 0.4

Update 0.4: Added two types of aircraft carriers that will spawn air raids and testing them for the two early factions. So now you may have to place air defenses in your rear areas.
Also fixed all air planes' behavior so they don't run away when damaged and become impossible to destroy. Replaced the overpowered insurgent Monitor with a captured freighter equipped with light armaments.
Replaced the now defunct NPC bunkers on AI islands with more flak turrets.
Lowered the mountain height to make terrain less jagged.


WW2:Lite is a campaign about classical big gun ship combat heavily inspired by World War 2. The campaign is populated by 8 custom factions with their own unique ships made by our community ship builders. (faction placment similar to Neter for familiarity, but map is different)

Ship building is simplified for that classic WW2 feel, and block counts are lower than Neter for moar ships in a battle (or better game performance).

There are some changes from the stock FtD campaign to create that World War 2 era feel:

*Radar technology is primitative, so no antenna dish pieces have been invented, players will have to use the more expensive antenna core pieces placed high up for detection, or use spotter planes. Aircrafts above an altitude of 300m will be able to spot enemy fleets on the strategic map before they can be engaged, but surface ships will be blockaded by the time they spot the enemy. Be sure to take the spotter plane fleet with you on your venture, and set its altitude to above 300m on the strategic map by right clicking and hold-dragging on the map. For the most part, World War 2 naval battles were fought without radars, reliable radars had been absent from warships as late as the Battle of Coral Sea of 1942.

*Some futuristic blocks like shields, lasers and particle cannons are disabled to for a purist World War 2 feel. Missile blocks are locked even for torpedoes because guided missile components like IR seekers can not be disabled. Torpedoes are simulated in this campaign by cannons with an skipping warhead, which work pretty well. You can find this setup on ships such as the Type 249 Destroyer, the Determination Class destroyer, and the Fortitude class heavy cruiser. Advanced cannons will be the only weapon.

*Detection Systems are enabled but made so that they are not needed, because we didn't have time to go back and update all of the ships to include the detection system. Ships without any detection system will still be 99% effective in this campaign.

*Hydrofoils are disabled because they weren't around at the time of World War 2, so ships have to be floated and made stable the hard way, by using bouyancy and weight distribution, just like how real WW2 ships had gun turrets low on the deck to lower the center of mass for stability.

Steps to get this working are, subscribe, go to Planet Workshop in the main game menu and download it, change planet to "World War 2 Lite Custom Campaign 0.4" from the main game menu, then start a new campaign like normal. In some cases you may have to restart the game to see the campaign in your selection tab. If you have played the old WW2 Lite, it may be a good idea to unsubscribe from that and delete its old files to prevent file conflicts, though it should work without doing that.

Ya I know, though it may not be theft. The menu for installing new "Planets" is a bit fiddly, and maybe some people just misclicked. Who knows. Thanks for the heads up.

Yeah there's a map setting that controls the effectiveness of detection equipments, I disabled it, because it would be too much work to add detection to existing ships.
