Description
Bigger disasters? Disable disasters? Auto-evacuate people?

Please report any bugs or issues you may have in this discussion so I can look into it.

* * *

Features
All of these features can be enabled or disabled through the options menu, or you can choose not to use them. Nothing is forced on you :-)

  • Spawn disasters with an intensity up to 25.5 instead of the normal 10.0! (Does not affect random disasters)
  • Disable specific disasters
  • Disable disasters over a certain intensity
  • Auto evacuate citizens
  • Disable normal building fires
  • Stop the camera from jumping to a disaster
  • Pause the game when a disaster begins
  • Change the probability for which disasters spawn - Experimental

Why is the max intensity 25.5 and not 1000!?
Due to game limitations. I'm looking into if I can increase the number, but I doubt it :( a 25.5 meteor strike does leave a quite sizeable hole though :D

Auto-evacuation explanation
  • Disabled you have to manually start evacuations (like normally)
  • Enabled - manual release Evacuations are started automatically when the disaster is detected (e.g. by a bouy or radar) or when the disaster starts (whichever comes first). You have to manually release the citizens when the disaster is over
  • Enabled - auto release Like above but when a disaster is over citizens are released automatically as well

The auto evacuation logic supports overlapping disasters
Setup: A Tsunami which is set to manual release and a Tornado which is set to auto release
  1. The tsunami is detected and citizens are told to evacuate.
  2. The tornado is detected, the city is already being evacuated so no further action is taken
  3. The tornado is over. The tsunami is still happening so the citizens are not released
  4. The tsunami is over. The citizens are not released.

Feature requests and bug reports are welcome :-)

I've made several videos with this mod. People seem to really like it. Here's a playlist https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLp-SyEpd8ml6sXVk9ooGohMTWgX_ynk_N

I notice the option is there to auto-evacuate when a disaster is detected - would it be possible to implement an "auto shutdown" of buildings once they've collapsed?

Hey, was reading your random disaster probability description from a few years ago. I'm ultimately trying to increase the random frequency beyond the max (I only play standard 9 tiles so it's roughly one/year, with sometimes longer gaps). You mentioned there's a point system and you need a certain number of points to trigger a disaster. Does that mean I can game the system by setting all probability sliders to an equal value somewhere near the left end of the slider (assuming left means less points required) as long as it's not all the way left? Or is your setting panel flipped so that I need to move them further to the right? Or is this purely for "relative to other disaster types" and has no bearing on overall chance of a disaster?

how to use it?

G'day everyone! Just a little note I thought might be helpful for people like me who might be a brick short of a BBQ!!! :)) When you go to create a disaster, there is a slide bar on the lower left side of the screen that lets you choose the intensity of the disaster. I have been trying for 12 months to get a disaster over 5.5 and for the life of me I never ever saw the slide bar. I was so focused on waiting for the disaster, with frustration levels through the roof, that it impaired my powers of observation, such as they are. Doh!!! It took a Youtube vid to enlighten me. I hope this is of assistance. Oh joy what a mess I've made of my city!! Awesome!! Saved me just in time from making a complete arse of myself, as I was about to have a good whinge to Asser. What a great mod Mr Asser, thankyou.
