Dynamic Foliage

Allow trees to change color based on the season and other factors.

Source code[]

In this release, custom static seasonal profiles are supported (verdance is specified at specific times of year, and is interpolated between these values, and is unaffected by altitude and temperature). Add them by editing
%programfiles(x86)%\Steam\steamapps\common\Cities_Skylines\CSL-DynamicFoliageProfiles.xml
, which is generated after the mod is first run.

This mod does not affect saves. To uninstall the mod, simply disable it.

Compatibility and Companion Mods
All default trees are supported. Some custom trees in the workshop are supported, and some don't exhibit any change, though I haven't yet found a technical reason for why or why not. As in the example screenshots, this effect can be exploited to make mixed evergreen-deciduous forests - certain conifers, like this one - will not be impacted by seasonal changes.
(This is obviously not an exhaustive list)
This mod is compatible with Rush Hour's modified time progression.

This mod is a great companion to Climate Control, which adds more seasonal gameplay effects (such as temperature), allows using rainfall profiles, and changes the rain effect to snow when it drops below 0 (no snow accumulation though :-( ).

This mod is incompatible with No Radioactive Desert and More mod, because it overrides the same codepaths. But settings for disabling the polluted tree and shoreline tree effect are available. If there is sufficient demand, I can also include the other settings, but you should consider alternatives such as No More Purple Pollution.

Support Natural Disasters.

Lots of various bugfixes. Support static seasonal change profiles.

Initial functional build. Supports hardcoded seasonal change.

Code from Climate Control and No Radioactive Desert and More is used.

Fall Tree icon[] by Eugene Dobrik from the Noun Project.

I don't have Park Life yet, but I use Real Time mod and it seems somehow working (I got autumn in the new map), but the issue is that I cannot use it with many maps, because they use custom map theme, for example for coloring the natural resources.
Would it be possible to separate change of ground from change of trees? Because that might be a solution, to let only trees and bushes change the colors, but not the ground.

@Chen I'm ready for the parklife update. this was a good mod before parklife crushed it. :steamsad:

i can second the rendering issue, odd disapearences of trees and occasionally roads outside of working tiles. I will follow this mod and redownload when fixed, its a very good mod and I enjoy it alot

I don't think its compatible with the Real Time mod or Park Life :c

It doesn't work for me. When I enable this mod I experience some wierd rendering issue with the trees and terrain. I just got Parklife DLC.

Wrong. This mod still works like a charm. I just wish I can change all of the trees simply by changing the custom map theme. I bought Snowfall DLC to maximize the potential of mods like this one so I can have a periodical change of four seasons.

Actually, having a periodical Four Seasons DLC that requires first having Snowfall would be a fun challenge for me. I have personally analyzed how this mechanic would work. For one thing, I anticipate more demand for educational and utility services in winter and more agricultural and tourism profits in the summer. This would mean that winter would be intense on your budget, save it be December with Christmas cutting down on services and maximizing timber industry and tourism budget, especially in contrast to the much more profitable Summer.

This mod make the trees that should be dead by water flood alive again. It should just dead (no leaves on tree) if water flooded.

Would love to see snow too on a normal map so we could have a real four seasons XD

This would be great if in the winter months it had an additional ground/tree colour cycle so that we can simulate snow on the ground and white leaves on trees so they look covered in snow.
I currently use Climate Control with Theme Mixer to switch winter/snow on when using non-winter map, but it would be good if I could use this instead of Theme Mixer so it happens automatically.
I looked at the source code but couldn't get it to compile let alone make any changes.

I'm not positive (sorry) but this mod conflicted with a mod I have active now. I have them all in a collection. Couldn't figure which one it was.
