The Game

Blatant Lethality is a 2D Hack & Slay game in which you fight hordes of enemies by unleashing flashy attacks and combos using your sword and special attacks using the resources "Flow" and "Mental Power". In its current state, the goal of the game is simply to have fun and slay as many enemies as possible before going down, trying to reach a new high score. Plans are to give the game much more depth, though. The game is being developed on Unity 5 Personal by a single person (yep that's me).

What's already done

  • Gameplay - Includes combat system with all its animations and sfx, a selection of different enemy types and a scoring system
  • Enemy AI with A* navigation
  • Rough draft of a (but playable) survival mode featuring different difficulties
  • Controller support and completely customizable key bindings
  • Complete main- and ingame-menu navigation
  • Highscore system with leaderboards and reviewable mission reports

What's yet to come

  • Meaningful character progression with levels, skill trees and (new) unlockable attacks
  • More and more distinct enemy types
  • Different mission types (not telling any more)
  • Epic bosses
  • Gear and item system
  • Local multiplayer (co-op, with multiple controllers)

What probably won't happen

  • A deep and witty storyline (I'm a horrible writer)
  • Better sprites and graphics (I'm a horrible artist as well)
  • A release date set in the current century
  • Just kidding

FAQ... kinda

What's that cool font you're using for the game?
It's called "Breakaway" by Vic Fieger

Why stick figures? Isn't that lame?
I guess... but they're easy to draw and animate. Also see the second point in the list above.

What's the music in the video? Is that the ingame music?
Check the description on youtube. It's just added for the video, I don't have a license to use it in the game.

Do you have enough questions to justify adding an FAQ section?

Still Questions?
Feel free to leave a comment here, on youtube, or send me a message on the game's facebook page. I'll try to answer everything (provided I know the answer).

See you in 10 years!

I'm certainly no editing pro, but I know my after effects basics so I think I'd rather do that myself as well, sorry :D

I also see some people offering assistance but you wanting to keep it a one man team. How about someone to create you some trailers? We can always pm for more information if you are at all interested

Thanks! I haven't decided on enemy balancing yet, I have four difficulty settings for testing at the moment and I've used the second hardest for the gameplay video. You'll most likely have the option to fight more weaker enemies in the release version as well.

@Falcon Took
Hard to say just yet but probably not more than a few bucks.

How much do you think this game will cost once it is released? It looks great :Excalibur:

I love the look of this game. Though I personally think that there should be a higher quanitity of weaker enemies instead. I have always found it more fun to kill a lot of weaker enemies, than to have killed a few strong ones.

@Yoyo thanks for the offer, I'd rather keep this one a one man project though, if just for simplicity's sake.

I'm an animator and would offer to assist with the animations if you ever wanted to evolve them beyond stick figures.... but to be honest, I love the style and how fluent everything is so keep with what you have! It's like Hyun's Dojo turned into a game. :D
