Release date: Now playable on the web, Steam soon after Greenlight!
Therian Saga is a MMORPG that tries to stand out of the crowd by offering a compelling storytelling surrounded by a massive mathematical set of rules that define the world your hero will evolve in. It could be said that it borrows elements from old-time MUD games, strategy games and even tabletops RPG.

Keep it simple, why should I Greenlight your game?
  • Skill Based: We use a system based on your hero, your tool, your companion, your location and some magic to calculate your capability to do something.
  • Sandbox: It’s up to you to understand how to progress in the game.
  • Storytelling: Old school style with text as the main medium for storytelling.
  • Crafting: Complex, with a skills distribution mechanic from material to final product.
  • Huge: The game is online since 2012, there are years of content available right now.
  • Asynchronous: You can play this game at the same time as a more time-consuming game.
  • Indies: The game is rough on players; you have to work hard to reach your goals.
  • Devs: We are close to the players and you can discuss the future of the game with us.

About the team and the project
The project started by a few guys at the end of 2008, at a time when there were still unintelligent phones and tablets were pills to most people. The game was first made available as a web game and build under this platform a very loyal community that helped the team progress in the project. At the end of 2015 we created a stand-alone client for Windows, and this is what we want to Greenlight today. Being on Steam would be for our studio members a great honor, because we are long-time PC Gamers and we feel that our game is made for PC Gamers.

Why asynchronous?
To break the prejudice that asynchronous game had to be simple games. That was really important to us. We wanted a game that people could spend less time on than live MMO, but that could offer more for each second online. Your characters work while you are offline, but you will be also thinking about what you are going to make them do next time you log in.
There are lots of games out there that are time-consuming for nothing. Building an asynchronous game that goes deeper into RPG gameplay: that was a battle worth fighting.

A typical day in Therian Saga
You can play the game the way you want. There is never a situation in the game where you have to stay at the computer. You can quit in the middle of a dungeon, even in the middle of a fight, and come back the next day and pick up where you left off. If you quit in the middle of a fight with another player, your characters will continue to fight as well as they can while you are offline.

What about the typical day? Well, just as an example, suppose you can manage two very short playing sessions, one in the morning and one at midday. You might schedule tasks for your hero in the morning, then just check if everything is ok at lunch time and maybe indulge in some trading and social activities. In the evening, when you have a bit more time, you'll have lots of “live gameplay” options: quests, adventures, dungeon-raiding, fights with other players in the arena, maybe even a boss run. At the end of your play session, you might ask your hero to sleep, or carry on working during the night. If you miss one of your normal play sessions, your heroes usually have enough tasks left that they can continue to evolve anyway.

Now that gives you a lot of flexibility and, as you can see, the game goes beyond asynchronicity and offer lots of live gameplay possibilities.

Don't take our word for it, check out the game and help us spread the word to the whole Steam community!

Game is kind of a mess. I downloaded v1.20 of your client, later it said an update was available and it needed to restart but it never updated or restarted.

If you like board games, especially those where points make you win rather than those where you have to take out your opponent (Caverna, Myrmes...) or if you are just curious and willing to spend a few hours to learn the crafting system, then Therian Saga is highly recommended to play !

Now do not ask the game too much and understand that after a few months, only the social relationships you might have built in-game would hold you on Therian Saga. And if like me you feel uninterested in such "relationships", you can just stop any time. In the end you might have just spent 3 euros.

===PART 2===

After that well... You would hope for a MMO to hold you onto something deep but here it is not the case. While online, the main activity is chatting with other players and that is what will take most of your time. In fact, Therian Saga turns into a social network after a while, because well... Once you've planned task that takes up to a few days all together in a few minutes, what is left for your daily gaming ? Talk to the players...

In addition the updates did not bring anything really new to the gameplay. There is a guild system, but there is no interaction between guilds. Being the best just to be the best has its limits... Especially when there is no challenge but the one of being patient enough to wait months before completing some of the most complex, no not complex, time consumming tasks.

Those are the reasons why I stopped the game. I am not a geek enough to enjoy talking for hours to people I have never seen, neither to feel close to people I will never see.

===PART 1===

I had player for years to this game and as many games it just does not have the content to handle endless replay. Let me explain why :

When you start this game, be ready to enjoy it for at least a few months, just because of the crafting system. In order to craft, not only you have to gather ressources, but also do quests, which takes like I said, and if other players do not help you, a few months.

To enjoy the game fully, you will need however to spend 3 euros (this unlucks the ability to plan actions before and after the sleep actions, thus expanding you options). 3 euros for a few months of good gaming ? That ain't much. I would even call it very cheap.
