Description
Release date: Now Available!
Relive the days of classic gaming with Shady Brook, a dark and mysterious text adventure inspired by the television series Twin Peaks in which players take on the role of author Jake Torrent in his search of a small town's twisted secrets.

About
Shady Brook is the second in a series of text adventures that puts a unique spin on classic interactive fiction, combining classic room-based explorative text game mechanics with a 1990s-era graphical interface. It plays like an interactive novel. You make a series of choices that determine what happens next in the story. But unlike in traditional gamebooks and visual novels, Shady Brook also features more advanced adventure-based game mechanics, including locations to explore, items to interact with, characters to meet, and puzzles to solve.

Story
Author Jake Torrent, alongside his blind father Wayne, moves to the small, peaceful country town of Shady Brook. At first, everything seems idyllic. His neighbor, Tim, is always willing to lend a hand, and the Ekan family invites him to dinner.

But soon, Jake learns that his home's previous occupant committed suicide, and mysterious things begin to occur. When another resident also commits suicide, Jake starts to suspect foul play. Could this town take part in a conspiracy to cover up a murder?

As Jake investigates, he gets more than he bargained for: a town secret so terrifying that there is no turning back...

Features
  • EXPLORE a small country town
  • INTERACT with nearly two dozen characters
  • CHOOSE your path--your actions alter the course of the story
  • PICK UP, COMBINE, and USE a multitude of inventory items
  • SOLVE a variety of challenging and unique puzzles
  • DISCOVER the town's terrifying secrets in a truly dark and mature storyline
  • ENJOY over 250 pieces of original artwork and an hour-long soundtrack

About the Developer
Unimatrix Productions is a small independent game studio founded in 2003 that specializes in adventure, text, and mobile games. Our focus is to produce quality, story-centric titles that feature rich, three-dimensional characters and complex, original plots. We strive to create a meaningful journey for players to undertake in each of our games, conjuring an atmosphere similar to that of a movie or novel but with the added dimension of interaction.

We do this because it's our sincere belief that it is the personal connection players form with a game that makes it a success. It is with this philosophy in mind that we approach game development, and we believe that our work stands out as a result.

We have already released several commercial adventure games, with more titles in active development.

Upvoted, of course. The original game was far from perfect when it came to graphics, but it did have a good story. I've just finished Lifestream remake, and I enjoyed what you'd done with the old material. Definitely awaiting the next remake - and the following text adventures, I hope.
