Introduction
Welcome, fellow rocketeer!

This guide is focused on helping players who get easily stressed by playing Rocket League be it because of the community, self-esteem, bad luck or other reasons.
I've had this problem very often when i want to play the game, level up, practice, but about 10 matches later i've had gotten so pissed off that i quit.

Most notable reasons of stress in Rocket League:
  • Lack of self-esteem
  • The Community
  • Matchmaking
  • Wasteland and Neo-Tokyo
  • Getting beaten up by a Rookie

Let's get on some tips that have helped me to calm myself after those annoying situations, shall we?
Mute Button

The first thing that pisses me off real quick in a match is when a player starts mocking someone because of a mistake. It happens way too often when you accidentally miss a shot and get scored by the opposing team; someone is always there to spam: "What a save!"
Don't get me wrong; it's always fun to joke around when some unusual mistakes happen, but sometimes it gets annoying as there is someone who will spam the chat about everything you miss all the time. If you get irritated by that, just end it.

Some people choose to simply ignore the chat. I cannot. For that reason all i do is open up the mute menu and block the annoying ones.

Just be sure not to mute team-mates, because you could be ignoring their "[TEAM] I got it!".
Be polite and respect other players
The Rocket League community is slowly becoming more toxic even during high level matches.
Especially when you're losing, it's pretty often that someone says something to hurt you:

"[TEAM] You're all pieces of rotten garbage"
"AAHAHAHA 7x1 EZ"
"give up noobs"

Don't get angry because of these types of comments, and, most of all, don't reply to them.
Some of them are made specially to make you feel bad about yourself and stop playing the game.
My advice is to mute and NOT be like them in any circumstance whatsoever.

Be kind and know when to praise your team-mates and opponents, you might make someone happy and keep them playing for longer! It helps to dissolve the salt in the community currently flowing in Rocket League.

As all of you may already know, Rocket League's matchmaking is pretty silly most of the times...
You are always more likely to get put in a team of rookies against three rocketeers, and that makes you feel pretty unlucky.

If you feel like the match is unbalanced, just finish it and find another one.

You will EVENTUALLY find a good set of teams with even matches, which are alot more fun than completely destroying the opposing team.

Another terrible thing that happens is when you're winning all the ranked matches until Neo Tokyo shows up and you lose terribly. For that you can always practice and avoid as much as you can being bad on these maps (Wasteland, Neo Tokyo) as for they can really screw you up sometimes.

Personal experience.
Team-mates
Followed up by RL's Matchmaking system, it's very common for you to play alongside a player who isn't doing very well for your team.

First of all:
Don't be an annoying idiot.

If your team-mate isn't doing good, most of times it's not even his fault. You cannot expect someone who has played 10 hours to be up against a 600 hours of play time enemy and complaining about his "lack of skill" isn't going to help that person.
Try instead guiding them and give tips on positioning and boost their morality by protecting them against other people who will annoy them.

Second:
Always try to be positive in your team. Congratulate your fellow mates on their "Great pass!" and don't leave them hanging. It feels really good when someone recognises your feat, and that increases the bond between team-mates, making your team's spirit stronger.

Clean up your mind
When in-game, worrying about something will most likely cause you to be less focused and distracted, resulting in losing the match.
I've had some cases (mostly in 1v1 ranked) where i was too anxious and afraid to lose. Because of that, i found myself shaking uncontrolably and my mind was crowded by the thoughts:
"Don't loose"
"Don't miss that"
"OH MY GOD HOW DID I MISS THAT"
"NO! HOW CAN I BE SO BAD"

Listening to calm music helps me alot to focus on my car and the ball, and relieves me when i get angry.

Take a break
After playing a good ammount of matches, you might notice that your skill starts to degrade and stress builds up.
Don't be afraid of taking a short break to relax your fingers for a bit. Take that time to cleanup your controller, find a music playlist, chat with your friends or read some Rocket League guides!

For long term breaks, taking a walk outside is great for calming yourself from most situations. Do some reading, grab some snacks, go watch television or YouTube videos. These will most likely get you ready for some painfully annoying losses!

Final notes and TL;DR
So basically all summed up to recap:

  • Respect other players and they should respect you
  • Mute button is your friend
  • Do not give up on matchmaking shenanigans
  • Free your mind
  • Listen to music
  • Take occasional breaks

I hope this guide can help you get calm so you can enjoy this marvelous game that makes us saltier than ever <3
Rating is always appreciated as it will make this guide more popular and potentially help more people on the way.

If you do not agree with anything listed on this guide, feel free to leave a comment, i'm all open for your suggestions and opinion on this matter.

Have a nice day!

I've just stumbled upon this guide, and.. Umm, isn't this a common sense?
I mean, shouldn't this be pretty much expected and a basic knowledge to whoever plays games in their free time?

Sorry if those come as a rude or disrespective questions, that wasn't my intention at all.
I've browsed throughout the comments, and.. Shouldn't you take a look and delete the ones including trading?
I do understand that you may not wanna add anything to the guide, but shouldn't you keep it somewhat updated?
