Alternate Reality, episode 1 - ‘The City of Xebec’s Demise’
(uber alpha edition 0.03)

Changelog :
Guards added (tho they fail to do anything really)
Graveyard area added
More terraforming done around the city
Added trees around city
Added lots of clutter to city to make it look more natural
Added camper on west side of town
Fixed a lot of floating objects etc. (the floating gate is SUPPOSED to float)


PLEASE BE AWARE THIS IS JUST A PREVIEW, THERE ARE NO ACTUAL QUESTS TO PLAY OR MONSTERS TO KILL YET.

The mod is based on an 8-bit RPG with the same name. AR was way ahead of it’s time and offered depth unseen in games even till today. A small example would be that your character would have to eat and drink to stay alive, and if you would not eat fresh fruit and vegetables for an extended period of time you could contract a case of scurvy ! This is a detail that you would only run into in the most extreme rare cases. Obviously, I will not be able to completely rebuild AR in Skyrim, even if I wanted to. But, the unfortunate history of the game AR means that of the originally intended 7 parts, only 2 were ever released. This mod is an attempt to complete the story, hopefully as close as possible to the original storyline.

‘The City of Xebec’s Demise’, will be the first episode in a 7 part series.
The story begins with you getting abducted while you are sleeping. Everything is fuzzy, but you remember .. stars … bright stars everywhere. You wake up in what seems to be some kind of holding cell. The door is open and as you enter the next room, you are spoken to by a loud, metallic sounding voice.

‘Welcome to Alternate Reality, Traveler. When you step through this portal, you will enter the City of Xebec’s Demise and your fate shall be decided.’

(You enter the portal and get the character creation screen, etc, then you enter ‘The City’.)

The City is a closed off, square area divided in 4 main quarters. In the beginning you will want to hang around the main center square, especially at night (When they come to take the colors away). There will be very few leveled creatures, most of the enemies will have a set level so you can not just run into any area you please … You will have to fight your way up some levels first before you are strong enough to go to certain areas of the city. Eventually you will work your way into the sewers, where you will find an entrance to …. The Dungeon (Episode 2). In the city, you will find 2 areas that are closed which will be released as seperate episodes (The Palace and The Arena). Outside the city walls lies The Wilderness and beyond that … even more …

AR is basically a big zoo of captured creatures from different planets let loose on each other like some kind of battle royale. By the time you get to the end of the game, all your choices made during the game will determine which ending are available to you. Will you destroy the alien space ship as revenge ? Will you free all the prisoners ? Will you return to your home planet ? Will you save .. the universe ?

What I have finished so far :

New world space with a huge area containing the City, the wilderness and … more. Mountains etc created and everything textured.
Abduction / Holding area created, including clutter and teleport to Xebec’s Demise.
City basics built. Main streets are in place and surrounding area closed off.
Main square has 3 vendors so far which are semi functional
Clutter added around city square
Trees added in main streets
Blacksmith interior basics setup (quick copy & paste from one in Skyrim)

Obviously this is a huge project that will take me many years to complete. I will start by building as much as I can myself, and then I will try to get some help from either the Skyrim or the Alternate Reality community (which is still alive, albeit small)...

To do list :

-Create scripts for alternate game start scenario
-Create interiors for all houses
-Create Mage Guilds
-Create House of Ill Repute
-Setup guards around town (patrolling and some stationary)
-Create spawning enemies script
-Populate enemies
-Create some quests leading to the dungeon
-Create a maze with teleports
-Add voice overs

Scripting? Are you still working on this and/or still need help..? If so, then I may be able to help out with scripting if you can tell me what you have so far and what your goal is (what the whole story to this mod is and who the characters are, or I can create some as I go through the script if needed). I may be able to think of something if you still need help, my friend.
