Technical issues? Read this!
Here's a list of things we'd like you to try before posting your technical issue on the support forums. We have seen that they are often solved by one or more of the steps in the following sections.
Game crashes?
If your game crashes unexpectedly please try the following steps:
  • Check that you have the newest version of the game.
  • Try verifying the integrity of the game cache (how to verify integrity of game cache).
  • Browse to "Lethe - Episode One\Binaries\Win32" and run "UDK.exe" as an administrator (right-click menu). If this solves it, it might be better to apply it to the executable itself: open the properties for "UDK.exe" and go to the "Compatibility" tab, then check "Run the program as an administrator" and press OK.
  • Browse to "Lethe - Episode One\UDKGame\Config" and delete all the files that start with "UDK". This clears up any faulty configurations and creates new copies upon launch.
  • Browse to "Lethe - Episode One\Binaries\Redist" and run "UE3Redist.exe" as an administrator (right-click menu). This should make sure that required third-party software used by the engine is installed (this includes DirectX 9 and .NET).
  • If all else fails: please re-install the game. Verification sometimes fails to find the issue and in those cases a re-install is required.
Low framerate | Bad performance?
If the game performs poorly without a clear reason please try the following:
  • Check that you have the newest version of the game.
  • Update your video card drivers and restart the computer.
  • Check that the game's profile (often found under "UDK (Unreal Development Kit) based games") in your manufacturer's (AMD or NVIDIA) driver software does not have any unusual settings applied.
  • Check if there are no global/general settings applied through the driver software that might conflict with the game.
  • If you have a laptop or notebook or PC with an integrated graphics processor, please make sure that the game's profile (as described above) is set to use the dedicated graphics card instead of the integrated one.

The final point (make sure the game is using dedicated gpu instead of integrated) is crucial, because the game's .exe is actually UDK.exe and my 1070 had to be directed to run it. It's easy to tell when IntelHD is trying to run UE3, it renders anti-aliasing as red pixels all over.
