Game Description

Safe Haven is a first-person experience that takes place shortly after a disastrous outbreak. You will play as Elizabeth and embark on a journey. She lost her parents and is now alone. Rather than sit around waiting to perish, she chooses to fulfill her mother’s last wish…finding "him".

In case you are already wondering, no, this is not just another typical survival game. Safe Haven focuses on its story, but has a variety of gameplay elements which keep the experience of Elizabeth’s journey one that is both beautiful, and challenging. These elements include and are not limited to the following:

- Array of diverse locations to explore
- Action and stealth mechanics
- Scavenging for supplies
- Enemy encounters
- Professional voice-acting
- Atmospheric soundtrack

Exploration

This is a key aspect of Safe Haven. Although you are following Elizabeth’s story, you will have numerous opportunities to go off the beaten path. Food, water, ammunition and other survival items are scarce in this world so exploring increases your chance of survival. There are also clues and puzzles you will not discover simply by following the main story path so uncovering this additional content adds to your experience.

Mechanics and Enemy Encounters

Safe Haven features a plethora of game mechanics. Of course, there are the traditional mechanics of player movement, interacting with the world, obtaining supplies and using weapons, but we also provide others such as examining items for clues. An example of this would be finding a note or picture and flipping it over to reveal information. You will also be able to pick up rocks, along with other items, and throw them to create a distraction during enemy encounters.

Elizabeth will face danger throughout her journey and will have various ways to handle each situation. She will have weapons. However, ammo is a precious commodity so it may not always be in your best interest to use them. Other options include attempting to evade these foes either by carefully sneaking around them using objects for cover, or creating a distraction to provide another route through the current situation. The choice is yours.

Scavenging

Similar to what was mentioned for exploration, supplies are not abundant in Safe Haven. There are opportunities to acquire survival items during the main story path. Naturally, those who choose to scavenge surrounding areas off the beaten path will find additional supplies. This also gives you a chance to admire more of the world.

Voice-Acting

We have the pleasure of working with incredible talent to voice the main characters of Safe Haven.

- Elizabeth is voiced by Caroline Bloom
- Currently in talks with a well-known voice actor for another important character (updates soon)

Soundtrack

The Safe Haven soundtrack is being produced in-house by one of our talented team members. The tracks provide an immersive experience whether you are exploring and enjoying the beauty of the world, or are fighting to survive against vicious creatures.

Synopsis

It all began with something they were calling a rare form of flu.

The effect on the humans was lethal. It had all of the common symptoms, except the high mortality rate. Day by day more and more people were dying. It soon became known as the T-TL (Total) virus because failure to contain it would result in complete destruction of the human race. People were told to stay in their homes. Food and water would be rationed and delivered every three days. Three days quickly became four, five, a week, two weeks. The lack of nutrition made everyone weaker and quicker to perish from the deadly virus. It seemed as though only the strongest could last, or those who were lucky.

Elizabeth and her family holed up in their home. Her father, David, handled the supply runs when necessary. Elizabeth stayed with her mother, Janelle, and together, they guarded the house against anyone or anything that might try to enter. They kept the lights out and drew the curtains, especially at night. Thanks to some advice from an old friend, Elizabeth’s parents were able to fight the disease long after the rest of their town had succumbed. But, eventually, it got the best of them.

The effect on the animals was, in a way, worse. Worse for the surviving people, anyway. The animals didn’t die. They just…changed. Mutated. They turned rabid and blood-hungry. They seek people out by looking, listening, smelling… And at night, they were nearly impossible to fight off.

In the wake of so much death and decay, Elizabeth's family clings to hope that their old friend might be the key to survival. On Janelle's death bed, she tells Elizabeth to "Find him."

With dwindling supplies and an apparent resistance to the illness, Elizabeth sets out in search of her best chance at living to see another day, and her purpose in this new world order. She will travel miles, between cities and states, through forests and over mountains. She will make many new discoveries, both wonderful and dangerous.

We don't have a solid date for a demo/playable teaser yet, but we are working on it! Sooner rather than later!

Mistafoxx, we have to be careful answering this question so we don't spoil the story. However, Elizabeth will run into a variety of dangerous creatures along her journey. So not only is she going to have to survive against them, she will also have to survive with scarce supplies. These will play hand-in-hand with one another throughout the game. Does this answer your question? Unfortunately we can't say too much more regarding this since there are things in the game we want to be discovered by the players.
