Marvelous Designer is 3D computer graphics software that runs on Windows and Mac OS, developed by CLO Virtual Fashion Inc. It is an application used to create 3D clothes for use in film, television, game development and interior design. It is based on patternmaking (making the blueprint for a garment), which Fashion design background is not required to create 3D clothes using Marvelous designer.
Marvelous Designer has been adopted by game studios such as Ubisoft, Konami and can be seen on the screen in animation films including BBC OLYPICS 2012 STADIUM UK created by Passion Picture and The Hobbit, The Adventures of Tin Tin, created by Weta Digital. Users can build skills by mastering online training at Marvelous Designer Learn Page.

Marvelous Designer comes with features to aid in the modeling of 3D clothes.

*Pattern Creation and Editing
Users can create and edit rectangular, circular, or any other polygon shaped patterns.

*Segment and Free Sewing
Users can create and edit seam lines with in sewing directions and range.

*Arrangement Points and Bounding Volume
Arrangement Points and Arrangement Bounding Volume are used for proper placement of patterns around the avatar. All pieces of pattern should be arranged in proper position around the avatar for the stable simulation.

*Physical Properties
Physical Property section contains information about fabric behavior with several values that define material characteristics. Users can manually change physical property or simply select preset physical property which is already defined.

*Pin Manipulation
Users can manipulate multiple vertices/pins with Point/Box/Lasso tools.

Across modeling and animation, data between software including Maya, 3DS Max, Softimage, Modo and ZBrush can be imported/exported.

*Animation Editor
Users can load, edit and save 3D clothes file used in the animation record. The recorded animation can be imported/exported to 3DS Max or Maya as Maya Cache, Point Cache2, MDD Point Cache.

*MCX & Alembic File Export
Animations can now be exported in the MCX format, which can hold larger amounts of animation data and Alembic format, which was developed as an open source library primarily by Sony Imageworks.

Film, gaming studios and fashion companies have opted to use Marvelous Designer in their animated films, gaming titles and research projects. According to 3D Artist, Marvelous Designer is used in architectural and interior design firms for developing concept tart and previsualization. I've utilized this software during the free beta and I have to say that it is pretty amazing at what it does. However, its capability is pretty limited compared to a full 3D package like Blender, Modo, Maya etc and I have to say that the price they ask is pretty unreasonable unless you're a studio that requires a faster and more streamlined method for creating clothing. Also, their personal license is not indie friendly at all and is almost like a lax educational version that cost 550 dollars for perpetual and 60 dollars a month.

To attract more users, changes should be either:

Reduced Price if they keep the software license the way it is
Change the software license to enable use for indies and maybe impose the 100k revenue limit like Epic.

In the end, it is an amazing software but if they desire more users especially since the software is nowhere near the popularity as other prominent software than changes must be made.

Could you please reconsider changing personal to suitable for indie gamedev too? Put a 100k revenue limit and it'll limit out companies that could actually afford the full license. There are plenty of small startups and indie devs that would want to use MD but $4k perpetual license is pretty big showstopper for them.
