Greenlight is a GO!
Release date: Late 2017
Mirrors of Grimaldi is a local, competitive multiplayer game that takes the concept of splitscreen and turns it into an integral game mechanic. As players take damage their screen size will shrink, eventually closing in on them and knocking them out of the game. Compete with your friends to survive against hordes of minions in Grimaldi's twisted carnival!

Our current demo can be downloaded @

  • Dynamic splitscreen: As players take damage the size of their screens will shift and change resulting in a visually interesting experience that directly impacts gameplay.

  • Gesture controlled combat: Players move around the world and attack minions by rotating, clicking, and tapping the gamepad's thumb sticks, adding another layer of skill and control to players' arsenals.

  • Variety of Tower Effects: By using Grimaldi's corrupted towers, players can get the upper hand on their opponents in a multitude of ways!

  • Local Multiplayer: Competitive couch multiplayer that brings back classic splitscreen fun.

Mirrors of Grimaldi may have a complete and functional prototype, but there's plenty more we'd like to add! Namely:
  • At least 2 new maps!

  • At least 1 new (female) character and more character customization!

  • At least 2 new game modes, like team matches and timed modes!

  • At least 2 new enemies, including Grimaldi herself (currently seen in our main menu)

  • Multiple new tower and global effects to change the way you play!

  • A tower loadout / game options system that affects game settings and parameters in order to personalize your experience.

  • Polish, POLISH, POLISH!

  • Whatever else we (us and the community) can think of and get done within the year!

51st and Fire is comprised of eight recent graduates from Drexel University who created Mirrors of Grimaldi as their senior design project. This led the team to GDC to compete in Intel's University Games Showcase against other top game design schools in the country, ultimately taking home 1st place for best gameplay. We look forward to hopefully getting greenlit and providing the full experience that we've all envisioned!
