Man Kind creates Satan, as a battle rages on between the living and the undead factions, players must choose to oppose the evil forces or join them. All during the period of The Black Plague, approximately 1348 A.D. shortly after the horrors of the Crusades the pope had ordered. Reign of Darkness is a PC based Apocalyptic, horror type, Medieval MMORPG which references real historical subjects that are fictionalized for the players to experience, and perhaps find interest in these historical events. Examples include the origins of Mythological creatures, Werewolves, Minotaurs, Demons, Hell, and Satan as an opposing force. One specific example is the story of "Vlad the Impaler" or Dracula as he is now known. Players will engage in a story line that revolves around "The Order of the Dragon" as a faction & explains the origin of Dracula, which actually means "Son of the Dragon". And can obtain Vampiric abilities/properties themselves.

What Reign of Darkness offers among other things, is an overall difference in the MMO experience, which will combine a compilation of features players commonly ask for, and many fundamental, "vanilla" type features.

A very specific aspect Reign of Darkness offer the users, is the ability to design and tailor a character to your exact specifications. As most games restrict the players options of abilities, therefore only allowing for a limited user experience, and a predictable play-style.

By designing the pool of abilities your characters specializes in, the player can create their own play style and strategies which is unique to them and how they prefer to engage opponents, this changes what is referred to as your rotation, which is to say the prioritizing of the order in which abilities are used, maximizing the potential of your class/arch-type.

As they say "if everyone is the same, then no one is different", and the feeling of individuality goes with it. In my experience, one of the most satisfying aspects of an online game such as this, is the feeling of being unique.

There are three main categories which allow extensive control of a characters conceptual specialization, which is also complimented by wide variety of appearances available.

-Firstly, the current combination or possibilities of special abilities exceeds 58,000, allowing the freedom of elaborate unique in depth character designs, that brings back the fun of Role Playing, a unique character. For example, you define your role, capacity, efficiency to the extent that, for example, a Mage could be designed to be a threatening opponent in close quarter melee combat, though reducing the typical Mage strategy.

-In addition, players will find randomly generated unique items which can also be modified to suit their specific needs. If a player finds an item that has an appearance they prefer over their current item they are using, the stats of items can be transferred (with the right reagents), giving the player the appearance they most prefer.

-And finally the players have the control to choose what "stat" (i.e. Strength,Intellect,etc) they would like to increase as they gain levels.

Giving the player back the control allows them to be free & creative in how they play and experience a game & their preferred play-style. This also serves as a significant factor regarding what a player can offer a when teamed with friends working toward common goals, while maintaining a "give and take" balance among st players. This is a top priority for me as the current sole developer, without balance the players will basically be forced into a common build or spec that is mathematically superior to another which means they are not very unique. Where as Reign of Darkness allows for all players to be unique in their preferred form and function. The fundamental values established currently, results in players having a unique purpose, value, and significance which can also be Synergized with other players designs and specialized abilities.

Players can also, hire and assign equipment to Mercenaries that will assist them in instanced enviroments, which allows for dynamic experiences with or without friends. One can steal a dragon egg to be hatched, raised, and summoned for the use of transportation. Fight against giant beasts, demons, monsters that are controlled by Game Masters, not having a predictable AI system for rare events, creates a dynamic challenge. Players must combine forces and create strategies to defeat such enemies when and where they may occur, otherwise watch as entire cities are destroyed.
