This policy, like your Housing Co-Ops mod, should please Socialists.

While the majority of Socialists in the game clearly do tend towards planned economics rather than Libertarian Socialism, the latter DO exist in real life- and policies such as Gated Communities already displease them: so they're clearly not JUST about government benefits.

@Comrade Sokami . . . read the beginning of your 2nd statement again. and notice how they say "in this game" not "any ACTUAL Socialist IRL", I do agree the developers chose the Bernie Crowd as Socialists, but sadly the Game isn't very well-made for actual Politics and there isn't very many overhauls that fix this. . . so sadly we have to deal with it. TBH, I think the Author for this mod was actually smarter than the Devs by acknowledging Libertarians exist.

The whole point to modding this game is to redefine each group to your mod, not to conform to the developers interpretations of each group. obviously the developer didn't include any socialist options in the vanilla game, so he made the socialist into social-democrats. Obviously it does not have to be this way at all if you simply mod socialist to be socialist, you know, by having them actually like ideas like worker cooperatives and increasing socialist membership.

I don't agree with the argument that socialist are automatically "statist" in this game. Socialist can strategically agree with reforms and concessions to the working class even if they don't view it as the end goal. However, by modding the game properly, you can turn socialist into real socialist. Simply add an increase to socialist membership and happiness modifiers while keeping the trade unionist modifiers.

This policy affects trade unionists and not socialists because the socialists in this game, as other commenters have said, are pretty much statists. Some liberals might like this policy but not all liberals will (i.e. Libertarians) so it doesn't affect them either. I am going to buff this mod w/ a higher policy cost, bigger boost to trade unionism, bigger debuff to capitalist membership, and a small buff for the self-employed, and perhaps make some other tweaks.

This is an awesome mod! but why is there no bar for socialist happiness?

@Kiki Kalani Thus that is why council communism exists.

But I still can't tell if the socialists in the game, as you said, are like Left communists, or like the Bernie Sander's brand of Democratic "Socialism"*. Or hell, they might be what the USSR (Leninism and reformist communism) and other bloc states are.

*I would call it more like radical liberalism, but ok,

Please add a bar for the socialists and equality, those are two consequencesof that law ;) :D

@ Eden. Actually the way the game models socialists, the in-game ones wouldn't like it. Statist leftists tend to not get along with non-statist leftists.

This is more in-line with industrial democracy or syndicalism. As such, good mod.
