Flyers equipped with the Homing Pigeon Leg Ring will automatically attempt to return to the specified, or the closest Homing Pigeon Flag owned by the tribe, in the event that the rider dies.

Simply place Homing Pigeon Flag(s) to act as rally points for flyers, and equip your flyers with the Homing Pigeon Leg Ring via the costume slot.

Don't forget to drop the mod a like and add it your favorites:

  • Auto-return - Flyer automatically attempts to return to a Tribe Owned Homing Pigeon Flag when its rider is killed.
  • Send to Destination - Manually send a flyer to a specific destination (can be a Tribe, Allied or a Public Homing Pigeon Flag / Mailbox).
  • Recall to Flag - Manually recall a flyer to a specific flag.
  • Set a default return flag per flyer - Either a specific flag, or the closest tribe owned flag to the flyer.
  • Public Homing Pigeon Flags - Public rally points for any tribe's flyers. Cannot be destroyed or damaged.
  • Mailboxes, Letters and Parcels - Send and receive letters and parcels via flyer to the Homing Pigeon Mailbox.
  • Bird Seed - No costume slot? No problem. Feed your flyer who doesn't have a costume slot the Homing Pigeon Bird Seed to add one to them.
  • Tribe Log support - Homing Pigeon notifications are recorded in the tribe log.
  • Rename Homing Pigeon Structures - Handy to know which is which and where your flyer is flying to.
  • Custom Flight Path algorithm - Sends the flyer to a dynamic altitude to mitigate collisions.
  • Custom collision avoidance system - Enabling flyers to navigate around obstacles while on route to destination.

@Superian Thanks, glad you are enjoying the mod. The FAQ's thread should be able to help you out.

I like your modification, it's great, thank you! :47_thumb_up:
I haven't fully figured out how to use the mailbox, but I hope I understand.:dhnuke:

@Dulciphi Glad that you were able to resolve it. That "Follow Fly" setting will of course have to remain on in order for the Homing Pigeon functionality to work.
Dulciphi May 9 @ 2:50am
Just to confirm that "follow fly" was the issue. As soon as I set my macaw to follow fly, I could put the leg ring on.
Dulciphi May 8 @ 5:01am
Oh I think I know what I can try. The macaw has a "follow fly" option in its radial menu. If that option is false, they will walk/hop when following. I almost always have them set to "follow fly" but I don't think these recently tamed ones are. ...yet. Thank you

@Dulciphi Homing Pigeon will make a check on the actor to assert whether the actor is capable of flying by using a standard variable/function that is exposed by the PrimalDinoCharacter parent class (off the top of my head, I think this variable/function is called something like canFly or isFlyingAllowed).

If this variable/function returns a boolean true, equipping the leg ring is permitted. If it returns false, equipping the leg ring is not permitted.

I would advise you talk to the mod author of Animals of Atlas mod, as it sounds like an issue on their end.

Hello :) I'm having trouble getting the leg ring onto my macaws from the Animals of Atlas mod. They take the seed ok and their costume slot shows up. I just can't get the rings to go into the costume slot. It was working fairly recently and I'm not sure why it's not working now. I'm going to raise this with Kraken as well but thought you might have some ideas. In the meantime, I'll equip them with a GPS tracker. Cheers and thank you :)

Just like @Overfox said. Thank you your explanation and all the work you put into the mod.
Overfox May 6 @ 7:07am

Thank you for taking the time to write a detailed and comprehensible explanation.

@here I've said it many times before, but I'll say it again: Equip your flyers with the in-game GPS tracker so that you can find them if something goes wrong with the mod.

I cannot help you find your flyer other than asking you to re-trace the route they took towards the destination.
