Development update
Kickstarter started!
Release date: Late 2017
Crystal's Castle is about a female student of the mages college who is tasked with investigating a magical castle. The game plays similar to Megaman but is influenced by a good number of older NES games like Castlevania and Zelda 2 the Adventures of Link...etc
A playable demo for both the Android and PC are available at my website

If this game succeeds in getting approved on Steam Greenlight, I'll launch my kickstarter campaign so that I may raise funds in order to quit my job and work on the game. I would appreciate any support when that happens.

Hmm I might play this (I like oldschool platformers), however I'd like to see some more of it first. A tad more gameplay with actual sounds and everything. How many stages is it supposed to have in the end? Could it possibly come with a level editor? How about multiplayer?

Well, it's July now and I see you are still trying to get this game going. I seriously hope you didn't quit your job yet. If you have, you might want to get it back. Now you see that some of us wasn't kidding about your job. Even if you make this game, you still need to wait until the game makes money to see if you can get anywhere as a dev. Make no mistake, there have been plenty of "backyard/garage living" devs that are now making $$$... but a lot of it had to do with sticking it out with their current job until the money was coming in and the games were selling. Apogee was once like this, took time to get games out the door and make a profit. Please do keep trying, but wait for cashflow and I wish you the best of luck.

if possible, I would suggest editing your assets in such a way that there isn't a black background around your images or video. It would give the game a professional look.

We are running the Game Development World Championship and would like to see you participate. It's good for your visibility and won't cost you a penny.

You can check it out at .

Good luck with the development!

Looks promising, but still lots to do...

1) "Special" (TM) square view? Ugly grey window? Jaggy buttons art? Window? Why?
2) Yucky JRPG-like panels of stuff again? (boooring 100500 years already)
3) Randomly falling blocks w/o any clues? Oh, dear!
4) Stereotypic boss just jumping around? SRSLY? Think of Dark Souls...
5) Poor logo/title/menu fonts and too round (in-game black outlined is better, but also too round)

And random show/clip music not in game setting.

Steam's tech support assured me that I meet all the requirements to post this on Steam Greenlight for approval! Feel free to comment, I'm working hard on this game now. I may even just go ahead and expand the demo game to have an extra test level to show things that are already in the game but not featured in the first demo.

Howabout no!

yeah you don't want to quit until you're actually making money. being a game dev is no money maker either. you need to release quality product etc. there are a ton of games that are made but make nothing because they could be bad. come back when its more polished.
Sefernaut Mar 26, 2016 @ 3:22pm
hey dave, dont worry about it lol. I have been pumbled on steam greenlight, the people here are irresponsible and annoying 99% of the time. Dont let yourself feel to bad for any mistakes. They are just looking for the smallest thing to annoy you with. Keep strong and do keep on posting more games and ideas bro. Your going to go far some day. I can feel it.

Just a thought. WAIT UNTIL YOU'RE MAKING MONEY FIRST BEFORE YOU QUIT YOUR JOB!!! Also, not really a wise thing to say outloud about wanting to quit your job. Whatever your reason for quitting, I can see someone taking advantage of this and tell your boss about it just to spite you.

I like the idea of your game, but yeah, if this project is still years away, need to wait until you have a working game or even a Early Access. Something we (customers) can look into.

Also, this does seem this would be a better mobile port than a computer game.
