  1. Run swgb-all-in-one-patch.exe;
  2. Select Steam version in the dropdown;
  3. Choose folder where the Steam games are located. Full path must be like this:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\STAR WARS - Galactic Battlegrounds Saga
  4. Follow the instructions and complete installation;
  5. Start Launcher to enable custom resolution;
  6. Play Game!
  • Q: I get an error during installation that says: 'An error has occurred while trying to replace the existing file: DeleteFile failed; code 5. Access is denied.' or 'Error creating registry key: -//- RegCreateKeyEx failed; code 5. Access is denied.'
  • A: Reboot your PC, then start installation again.

  • Q: I get an error during patching to widescreen: 'Didn't find interfac.drs reference at expected location. Wrong exe.'
  • A: You have a multiple monitor system, so patch may work not correctly. You need to deactivate the second monitor and run the patch on the primary monitor, i.e. monitor you want to play the game on. After patching process will be done, you can activate back the second monitor.

  • Q: Nothing happens when I start the game, i.e. it crashes immediately.
  • Q: When I run widescreen patch the window command gets full of red messages.
  • A: You need to install/update '.NET Framework 3.5'. On Windows 7 and later this component installs automatically, but if this didn't happen, follow the steps:

    1. Press 'Windows Logo' + 'R' keys on the keyboard.
    2. Type 'appwiz.cpl' in the 'Run' command box and press 'ENTER'.
    3. In the 'Programs and Features' window, click on the link 'Turn Windows features on or off'.
    4. Check if the '.NET Framework 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0)' option is available in it.
    5. If yes, then enable it and then click on 'OK'.
    6. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation and restart the computer, if prompted.

  • Q: When I launch the game I get an error : '0xc0000022'.
  • A: You need to do the same steps as in previous Q&A, but instead of step 4 you need to check 'DirectPlay' under 'Legacy Components'.

  • Q: Does the patch work if I have Expanding Fronts mod installed?
  • A: The patch improves only vanilla game, so it doesn't affect the modification.

  • Q: The game crashes when I am using 'System Memory' option during installation.
  • A: This option is unchecked by default specially because it works not on every computer.

  • Q: Every time I try to run widescreen patch it says 'No patches found for executable ...'
  • A: This message means that the widescreen support is already enabled.

  • Q: I’ve enabled widescreen but it doesn't seem to work in main menu.
  • A: Custom resolution affects only the gameplay, main menu will be always 800x600.

  • Q: Can the command bar be centered instead of all the way on the left?
  • A: Command bar position is fixed on the left, this is how widescreen patch works.

  • Q: Why Steam Overlay doesn't show up while playing the game?
  • A: The game uses DirectDraw for graphics rendering. Steam Overlay works only in DirectX games.

  • Q: Is there a way to use original music instead of the new one?
  • A: Original music is a one 30 minutes music file with fixed order of tracks. Every time you will play the game, you will hear the same tracks in the same order. If your match will be more than 30 minutes, you will not hear music until the match ends. New music is devoid of these shortcomings.

  • Q: When I am playing vanilla game or patched, the gameplay stops/freezes, but music still continues to play. It stays like this for about 10-20 seconds then it returns to normal. It happens very often.
  • A: If you have a CD/DVD drive, you need to insert a disk into it, no matter which. For some reason, the game checks for a disc in the optical drive on some system configurations.

     Before you write a comment, please understand that the patch doesn't work for everyone. Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds is an old game, so the patch doesn't solve all of the game's issues. The description contains all of the patch's features. Only these features are included and should work perfectly for most users. If a feature doesn't work it is on your end. If you have issues with the patch you should uninstall it. Lastly, all comments that are not related to the patch will be deleted.

Hello, thanks so much for your patch. Me and my friend are trying to play multiplayer through Gameranger, and are having the 20 min crash bug. It only happens in multiplayer mode, and we don't know what to do. Anybody has a solution ?

Just tested 1440x900 resolution, the game is working fine for me -

I found some issues in 16:10
1280*800 = the in-game (not in-menu) tech tree can not display Tier 4
1440*900 = no ui, can not play

Try to install the patch with unchecked Windows XP compatible option, maybe it will solve your issue.

After years of sync errors, this patch finally fixed it. Got through a few LAN games without desyncs. Major kudos to the patch creator. This game has such potential. I wish Disney would put some money into it like Microsoft into HD/DE.

One glitch this patch did seem to introduce is when creating LAN games (didn't try IP), the creator of the game gets hung at the loading screen (the one that says if you don't connect in 15 seconds, escape out) even though their party members can get in. Work around is to alt tab out to another window then go back to it.

No worries. Thanks for the patch you released though. It was a refreshing change to be able to listen to different music and have some of the other issues taken care of

Sorry, I am not a modder of this game, so I don't know how to fix this issue.

Just checked in to see if there is a new version. I had 1.3 on my hdd and was sure, that nobody would bother to add and improve things. I'm so suprised and happy to see so many people know and enjoy this game.

@|)in-d1n, I don't suppose you could add an update to BOT worker AI's? I've been having several instances where an ally or an enemy will send the majority of their workers to (I assume) fish/harvest from my Aqua Harvesters. While this is great fun to be able to put and aqua harvester right next to an enemy base and immediately nerf them to the ground until one of their military units blows it up it kinda ruins the game and makes AI allies practically worthless in late game.Thanks for your efforts, and I'd appreciate it fi you would be able to do this as well.
