a) There's an old baseball in the outdoor toilet. This is a special defense against raccoons: a baseball (or tennis ball) is soaked in ammonia and placed in places where their presence is highly undesirable. The smell of ammonia keeps these animals at a considerable distance.
b) Even on the very last Day, minutes before the helicopter evacuation, Henry learns from Delilah that a raccoon has taken up residence in his truck (in the parking lot at the Beginning of the Trail). Henry awkwardly jokes around, asking her to make sure the critter is comfortable in the vehicle.
