(2020 Update!) Star Wars Weapons



December 20, 2020 SEModder4 offered to update this mod so these additions are now included:

+ The blocks now appear in the all blocks tab and can be switched with the scroll wheel. The Large Gatling Turrets, Small Gatling Turrets, and the Missile weapons are in 3 separate groups to make them easier to find and so they do not cover the entire right side of the screen.

+ The mod should now be compatible with both Xbox and PC.

This mod has small and large block ship mounted weapons with different characteristics such as sounds, fire rate and power.

Since Star Wars sound effects are used interchangeably, the sounds for the mod contents are based on first used and how often a sound was used.

This mod should work in survival mode and creative mode. This mod runs with Keen's built in modding support so it should be compatible with other mods. Please let me know if that isn't the case.

I'm fine with tinkering using the mod for a scenario, tinkering, updating & uploading your own unique version of this mod. In that case, credits & a link back to the original mod would be appreciated.

Credit for the barrel particle effects goes to Kreeg who gave me the ok to use them a while back.

Here are some fixes if the mod is not loading up
Check to see if the mod was downloaded from the Steam Workshop, is selected in the menu, and the load order for your mods may have to be adjusted before loading a world. If you can't find the mod or are getting other errors unsubscribe and resubscribe to the mod on the workshop so Steam downloads it again. If that does not work go to the mods folder which is
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\244850
and check for & delete the folder titled 598138548 and wait for the mod to redownload. Again, unsubscribe and resubscribe and make sure the mod folder is fully downloaded, selected in the menu, and the load order is adjusted before loading the world.

I will very likely ignore comments asking for what is listed below so please, do not ask me:

to bundle one of my mods with another one of my mods.

to post specific content from one of my mods into its own mod. I've decided this due to the extra work it would take me to keep mods with duplicate content updated and organized.

about the friendly fire bug that has been in the game for a long time now and I have decided it is not unreasonable to leave Keen to fix it since it affects other mods.

about making the weapons use ship energy since Star Wars weapons in the lore use Tibanna Gas instead of electric energy and since energy weapons use scripts that Keen tends to break. So these weapons use regular craftable ammo.

about adding Weaponcore. My main concern has been scripts breaking with my mods in the past after Keen updated the game which would take a considerable amount of time to investigate & update. So I prefer to keep this version of the mod close to the base modding tools as possible to lower the chance of something breaking when Keen decides to update the game. I may release a separate version of this mod with Weaponcore though if I decide to get back into modding to learn how to write scripts with it, am shown that Keen does not constantly break it, or if someone else does it and offers me the upload.

about mod balance. If you think the weapons in this mod or other mods are too overpowered, underpowered, are not durable enough, or the materials used to create them are not balanced, etc. please read this before you comment: I would like there to be an in game slider or config file that offline players or server owners can adjust to change the damage, firerate, ammo capacity, durability etc. for in game items without having to upload their own version of a mod. However, I lack the scripting knowledge to add those features to this modpack and even if me or someone else did, Keen tends to break custom scripts with their updates. Anyone can create a post in Keen's forums through this link and if the post is upvoted enough, that may show Keen there is a good reason for them to develop that slider or config file that can adjust the damage, firerate, ammo capacity, durability etc. So modders can get back to creating mods instead of being asked to rebalance and wasting time fixing broken scripts. []

For some reason, Large grid turrets don't damage small grids... Also, no bullets are visible if I aim at a target and hit (meaning if I miss, I see the bolt but if I hit, nothing is visible)

@Razortron your weapons are working great with weaponcore installed and thank god for that because weaponcore targeting is currently bugged and i use a pve combat mod. atleast some of my guns work.
