If you want the mod, do a new game. The game is short, you can afford to do a vanilla run and a mod run. The mod is great fun, but the difficulty curve is all over the place due to the rebalance. You'll never know if the next mission is a cakewalk or a nightmare. Think X-Com "Portent", though perhaps not quite as brutal as that. Great for a replay, might be a bit weird for a first run. Also, part of the appeal of a mod is seeing what got changed.

Nevermind it's hard enough as it is. xD

If I've already started the base game and am a couple of missions in, will installing this pick up my save file?

If anyone is still interested (Hi Elindos Phar!), I found the mod's readme.txt and posted it. Lots of useful information: https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/discussion/595966492/1711816348627271468/

Hello TFJ,

Could you please put more information in the description and more screenshots?

People are positive about your mod but I can't know what it does or whether it should be better to try out on a first game, than the base game!

So why do you think people should play your mod?
What is there, that is not in vanilla?

Thanks!

Anyone ever finished the game with this mod? About to play for the first time and am considering using this instead of the base game... :steammocking:

Just tried the mod and so far, I'm really liking it alot. It solves my main complaint in vanilla: the overuse of bullet sponges. Combat feels much more fluid, well done. I'm interested in the new gear system as well, though I haven't played far enough into the mod to comment on it. I like the concept, but I could really use some sort of numerical value on how accurate the weapons are. It's SUCH an important stat in this style of game, and all we have to go by in vanilla or this mod is flavour text. It's a pitty.

Any conflicts with NG+?

Hey iWraith, thank you for the kind words, I really appreciate it. Regarding your question, I suggest taking a look at those 3 games (besides Halfway):

- Templar Battleforce
- Invisible, Inc
- Steamworld Heist

Templar Battleforce is the most similar to X-Com. There's an Overwatch mechanic and lots of customization regarding each of your soldiers. Also, the devs are still updating the game entirely for free. That said, Halfway has much better graphics and music IMO.

Invisible Inc is focused on stealth, but there's some combat, which is enteirely deterministic and works extremely well. It was my personal GOTY of the last year and I think it's perfect in terms of game design. My favorite game of the four.

Steamworld Heist is more casual and arcadey, but it's a very solid game with some interesting mechanics. I like how it has multiple difficulties and a ranking system. Not many RPG elements, but each character is very unique in terms of gameplay.

TFJ, I think that you might be the very reason I end up purchasing this game, just to see someone so committed to mod-ing the crap out of it to make it even more enjoyable. I enjoy XCOM quite a lot, but the RPG aspect of this intrigues me. Is there something else you'd recommend over Halfway as a turn-based, strategic RPG style game?
