Now Released!!!
Release date: February 2016
Are you rad enough to accept the ultimate 8-bit challenge on Halloween night?

HAUNTED: Halloween '85 is a new NES homebrew game featuring side-scrolling, platforming, beat 'em up action!

It's Halloween in 1985, the town of Possum Hollow has been haunted by an evil presence, turning even your best friends into brain-craving zombies and innocent pumpkins into poisonous, death-dealing obstacles. To get to the source of the evil you will need to battle the haunts, climb trees, avoid jagger bushes, navigate underground caverns and come face to face with an unexpected evil that you must overcome in order to climb out of your own grave. Six unique bosses await you as you battle through six different levels of haunted suburbia. Take control of Donny Johnstown and fight like the little bit-kicker that he is to prove that you have what it takes to save Possum Hollow!

This game has been released on cartridge for the original Nintendo Entertainment System so it follows all the rules and restrictions of the original hardware. We are releasing an exact copy of that game in all its pixelated, 8bit, retro glory for your PC.

I Just played a little demo at my local Cash In Culture. The novelty of this game is that it literally is a cartridge that fits into a bonafide NES system. The game play isnt anything great, but it a very authentic feeling NES game. I like the theme which has you punching zombies in western PA. There are very cool locations like the Monroeville Mall (Dawn of The Dead Movie location) for example. The dude wears a Pittsburgh Pirate hat and T shirt. So I can't hate it!

Played this game at PAX East this weekend. Enjoyed it fully. I liked it so much I left PAX today with a cart for myself as well as one for my friend who is also a retro fan. The gameplay is simple enough for anyone to pick up and play, but also has difficulty settings that will challenge even the most well-versed, old-school, platform aficionados. The game is littered with homages of gaming decades past and does it with great finesse. If anyone had this game as a kid 25 or 30 years ago, they'd have been proud to say they owned it, but I'm here to say in 2016, that I'm proud to say I own it. If you love platform NES games, you can't not love this game.
