Coming to Steam Early Access!
Escape aliens over procedural environments, by using more than 1,000 vehicles.

You are probably not going to make it. Not the first time, not the second, but perhaps the 100th? Every round is different, and you'll get better over time, so crack your knuckles and show those alien beasts who's the master of vehicular arts, the ultimate escaper of Earth, the unintended interdimensional time traveler scientist-man of pure vehiculative efficiency! Or, get struck by a bus and try again.

New kind of gameplay:
Switchcars lets you switch instantly between vehicles in your inventory, in order to move as fast as possible.

1,000 vehicles:
Yes, a thousand! Nearly all kinds you can imagine, all driveable, with different behaviors. More to come!

Procedural environments:
Forests, streets, ice plains, outer space, train yards, minefields - 100 unlockable types of terrain, very diverse traffic, as well as more than 150 static scenery objects!

Time travel:
The point in time dictates available vehicles and terrain, but also difficulty. Time spans from year 1950 to 2055. Can you make it to the end and escape to the stars in an interstellar ark, the ultimate vehicle?

Vehicle upgrades:
Rocket-propelled golf cart with caterpillar tracks and a machine gun? Yes! There are over 40 upgrades and power-ups that can be installed on any vehicle, altering their performance and appearance.

Immensely replayable:
Due to agile gameplay and procedural nature of the game, the rounds are unique, short and unpredictable, in classic action roguelike manner!

High fidelity:
Crunchy crashes, distinctive and colorful pixel art, highly detailed sound and original adaptive music.

Switchcars is expected to be released as an early access game in Q1 2016 on Windows and Linux, with Mac support possibly coming some time later (depending on resources). Price is not determined yet, but is aimed to be in the $8-13 range. A demo might be available prior to release.

The game has been three years in the making. It's in late alpha at the moment, being optimized and having other technical work done to make the early release as smooth as possible. For most of its development it has been worked on by a single person, until October when additional programmers were hired, thanks to getting funded by Vlambeer, making the release possible.

See more information about the game on Switchcars website[] or check out the developer blog[].

@Gnome Child The footage is an alpha version. There are a couple of things remaining to be done before the game can be released early (e.g. tutorial, ending, testing how it works on different screen-sizes). I would like to try and have the game as feature complete as possible, hence the wait. The idea is to enter beta soon after release, if no major issues arise.

Good game!

I'm assuming the footage is a pre-alpha version, and if it's not then why the wait?
