How to bring up console
The key to open up the console differs with keyboard layout; you can try ` and if that doesn't work, refer to the list below to find the corresponding key for your keyboard layout:

Belgian: ù (point keyboard)
Brazilian: `
Danish: Æ
French: ² or ù
Finnish: Ö
German: ^ or ö
Italian: \ or |
Norwegian: ø
Portuguese: ç
Spanish: Ñ
Swedish: ö
United States: ~
United Kingdom: ' (below the @ symbol, on the same key)
Turkish: "
Other possible solutions: §, ½

If you're still unable to find the key, it's usually the one to the left of 1 and just under the Escape key (Esc).

If this doesn't work go to C:\Users\Documents\My Games\Fallout4\Fallout4.ini
and make sure bAllowConsole=1 is set to 1, if it isn't there, add it.
Quest console commands
  • setstage <QuestID> <Quest stage number> – Moves the quest in your quest log to the indicated quest stage. Recommended command for moving past bugged sections of quests rather than forcing the entire quest to become completed.
  • sqt – Generates a list of current quest targets. Can also be used to find Quest IDs.
  • completequest <QuestID> – Completes the given quest.
Fixing a quest
Make sure to save your game before doing this!

By typing sqt in console you will see something like this, QuestID's are underlined with red:

Keep in mind that completequest command might complete all stages, instead try using setstage.

Here's a summary how I fixed my broken quest with certain NPC being stuck in combat:

1. Open up console.
2. Type "sqt"
3. Locate your QuestID, name is a hint but this can be trial and error.
4. Type "setstage QuestID 0" 0 will complete current stage, add 1, 2 or more to jump more stages.
5. Game should now load with the stage you set it to.

Easy way of finding right QuestID is just to type in console "completequest QuestID" on every quest until you find the right one.

Once you find it, load your old save again to ensure no other quests get changed in the process, and use console command for wanted results to get back to playing.

Good luck!

Achievements do still work after using console.

Is there any way to make an npc stop only talking about the quest you skipped? I needed to use the command to skip the "Outside the Wire" quest for the brotherhood and now i need to talk to proctor Ingram for the "Liberty Reprimed". However, she only says stuff like "get to the mass fusion building" (which is the reason why i had to skip Outside the Wire, since for some dumb reason it wouldnt allow me to give her the holotape and i didnt want to side with any faction and make an enemy of the other just yet)
