The April 23rd release represents a major release in the life of the map, although many of the changes will not be immediatly evident to most players. Aside from a few general bug fixes and some new vegetation as well as modifications to the south and west sides of the map I have created a entirely new landscape (terrain) replacing the old one. This of course has taken a substantial amount of time (a month so far. )

This may seem derastic at first but it was something that needed to be done and the longer I waited to do so the longer it would take to do it later down the line. There are a few different reasons for needing to do this. Firstly, the landscape I had created used to many components. Think of components as a basic unit of the landscape, with texture materials applied to it. The more components you have in a landscape the more performance heavy it becomes. Because of my lack of experience when initially creating the landscape I allowed the landscape to have far too many components. This of course caused the landscape to be heavier on performance then I would have liked. Also because of this I reached a hard limit on the amount of memory the sublevel (a layer that included only the landscape) could take up. Most of this was texture memory.

I've worked around this by slowly deleting landscape components that I didn't need. For a time this worked fine. However as many of you may have noticed the map doesn't have a very large ocean area that extends out from the main terrain. This is because Iév had to delete landscape components. The new landscape remedies this. In fact the new landscape has increated the amount of underwater terrain around the edges of the map by a substantial amount. Of course there is a cost in that the landscape is now slightly lower resoultion and has a harsher LOD transition. Cons that I believe are well worth it (I couldn't continue working on the map in the old state regardless.)

Secondly this new landscape has solved a issue that I've had for awhile with the wrong landscape material/texture being cooked into the map. You will now notice new textures in several areas that should give a markedly different look then what you had seen before (also more accuratly reflecting screenshots that I've taked in the editor.)

However one note I wish to make is that since I created a new landscape this also means I have to retexture the entire thing. So right now you will notice many areas lacking in textures. I am of course actively working on these areas. Also I've had to make some adjustments to object and foliage placement, and there is still more adjustments to make.

So in short right now the map is missing some things that where present on the old version. I am adding these things (such as some spawns) back in soon. The spawns should be fixed within the next few days as well as some resource locations.

Finally I would of course like to thank all the players for their feedback on the map and bug reports. Keep in mind if I don't reply to you directly it doesn't mean I haven't heard you.

-I'm running a server and can't get the map to load! Help?
Apparently the map sometimes will not load using the universal command -ModMapID=547828060.
Some server providers have had luck using a "Roraima?listen" command.

Beyond that I don't have experience with running a server, check with your server provider.

-How complete is this map?
80%. Though a % can be misleading because the final 20% could still take awhile.

-How big is the map?
Slightly smaller then "TheIsland"

-Are there Wyverns?
Nope

-What dinos/creatures are on the map?
Most, including Scorched Earth content.
If something is missing and you think it is needed let me know!

-What resources are available?
All resources from the vanilla game plus Scorched Earth resources are already present on the map, or will be added soon. Resources, aside from the basic resources, include oil, crystal, salt, sulphur, cactus sap,
sand, silk. Also rare resources such as rare mushrooms and plant species X.

-Caves? Where?
Caves are getting added soon, stay tuned.

-Where are the artifacts? Obilisks?
Caves and artifacts go hand in hand, so they will be added as needed when a cave is complete.
Obilisks will be getting added as well.

Roraima is a map for ARK: Surivival evolved, aprox. the size of the main game map "TheIsland," featuring a temperate rainforest climate. The inspiration for this map is the tabletop mountain, also called a Tapuy, "Roraima" in South Eastern Venezuela. Generally I tired to make the map more "prehistoric" then ARK's "Island" map and in line with the triassic, though I added grass (which didn't exist in the Triassic) for aesthetic reasons.

Please feel free to comment, critique, and make suggestions.

Gameplay Hints:
-Rare resources are mostly found in specific areas, not spread all across the map. Look for cliffsides and rocky outcrops to find metal. Crystal can be found typically near metal deposits. All resource locations are subject to change.
-Crystal can be found in small quantities anywhere with large concentrations of rocks
-Obsidian can rarely be found downstream in dry creek beds, where it was washed from the tabletop mountain.
-The largest deposits of obsidian are at the top of the tabletop mountain, however crystal, obsidian, and metal can also be found in large concentrations in caves.
-No caves of decent size currently. They will be getting added.
-All of the new foliage is harvestable.
-Get silicone from clams, which can be found in large numbers in specific parts of the map.
-Oil can anly be found underwater in a few locations right now.
-Watch out for Piranhas, they are deadly.

Did you wan't to skulp the Underwater areas more ? I can see that underwater decoration is missing like some plants. when i reache the Mapend, i can swim under the mainmap.

@Jeff... thanks! In the meantime, until I can place something on the ground to store the loot that's weighing me down, I'll be hanging out up here on the rocky cliffs... three raptors are below chomping at the bit, I ain't movin', lol.

There are 3 nests next to the river against a cliff close to the snow.

@LucienLeclerc It's just a map mod. it makes no changes to the game, just adds some content. There should not be any compatability issues with any other mod unless that mod changes the map

I just started a new singleplayer game and spawned in at the default East 1 zone, along a tributary, and I've been running up and down the rocky cliffs along the rivers and nowhere can I place a foundation or pillar on anything made of rock (not harvestable rock, I'm referring to the permanent formations)... is this intentional, part of the WIP status, or an oversight? Cheers
