The TakeOver is Greenlit!
New PC Demo now up.
Description
Release date: Early 2017
The Takeover is and old school beat 'em up inspired by games like Final Fight and Streets of Rage.

It has been a side project of mine for a while now but if the interest is there the team will grow to 3 members with a development time of about 1 year.

It's at an early development stage and I would like to get the community's feedback and input to help me shape the final game.

You can download version 1.1 of the PC demo from here:
http://www.megafileupload.com/mexT/The_TakeOverV1.1.rar

The original Mac OS demo from here:
http://www.megafileupload.com/i0dz/The_TakeOver.app.zip

and here for Linux:
http://www.megafileupload.com/qoUY/The_TakeOver_linux.zip

- single player or local co-op
- 2 game modes, arcade and survival
- 4 playable characters
- 7 stages

All characters are unnamed for now.

The first character resembles Cody from Final Fight or Axel from Streets of Rage.
I wanted to include a character like this in order to maintain a connection with the 90s beat'em ups, he will be mostly balanced and be a good choice for beginners.

The female character is more of an original design and will have greater speed but less stamina.

The two remaining characters are yet to be decided.

The game will have 7 stages of which 3 have already been decided.
For the remaining 5 I would like to see the community involved with ideas from anything to setting, look and gameplay elements.

The gameplay's pace is deliberately not very fast or hectic and favors a more strategic approach, positioning and using the right move is essential when dealing with multiple enemies.

There are four buttons, punch, kick, jump and special. By using punch and kick you can create combos to deal more damage, a feature I want to expand on from what is now in the demo.
