Introduction
Hello!

This is a short guide on how to modify the zoom-in/zoom-out values in Pillars of Eternity for us players who want to be able to zoom-in more or zoom-out more!
Step by step
  • Activate the console (in options -> controls, scroll down to find the console keybind and bind it to a key of your choice, § for example)
  • Now while in-game press the console key that you picked and then press "enter" (a text message should be visible in the top left corner of the screen).
  • Now you have to type "setzoomrange" and the two values you want to use. The default values are 0.75 (for zoom-in) and 1.5 (for zoom-out). For example I'm using "setzoomrange 0.5 1.5" for more zoom-in since I was happy with the default zoom-out. Remember to remove the brackets!

Also worth to note, this command does NOT count as a cheat and will NOT deactivate your achievements. Here's the the dev source confirming it for anyone interested: http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/72151-how-to-zoom-in-close/page-2#entry1603916

Happy adventuring!

Thanks! I was wondering how to do that, but I was leery of just poking blindly at the settings and seeing if they jumped the way I wanted them to. This is a big help.

It should save if I remember correctly! :)

Does this save between load/save sessions, or do I have to set it each time? I note on the guide would be good - thanks for sharing this anyway!

Good. Limited resources or no, some effort HAS gone into the models and, since they can't be viewed in the bestiary, this is a must-have.

Great stuff! I got used to Baldur Enhanced with a more zoomed out camera and Pillars could use with a couple extra steps of zoom out.

Helpful for those of us who downsample, since that pulled the camera further back (both min and max) the higher the res you downsampled from.
