Introduction

Nifty Things to Know

• All Steam Achievements are stored onto steam's service and then retrieved through SteamAPI.
  
• If the game has achievement stats (generally achievements with a counter), then those stats are typically stored on steam's service as well.
  
• If you're playing offline and you earn achievements, timestamps will be equal to the time you go back online. Do NOT confuse this with setting friends to offline.

Achievement Updates

• On August 12, Valve finally fixed the 0% achievement bug. The bug occurs when you earn an achievement in a game and then the game effectively removes all achievements in a game. The steam Average Game Completion %, or AGC%, calculates your average achievement percentages in any games you've earned in any achievement game that you've earned AT LEAST one achievement in. If you lose all achievements in a game, it goes down as a 0% as opposed to not counting. Due to this method of calculation, a game with NO achievements would essentially calculate as 0/0 causing the bug.

Average Game Completion

• Once you've earned an achievement in a game, that game is FOREVER calculated into your AGC%.
  
• Steam calculates the percentage PER game instead of PER achievement. So a game with 2 achievements has the same weight as a game with 200 achievements. So if you wanted to raise your completion percentage, it's easier to do a short game for a quick 100% as opposed to a game with a ton of achievements. Long story short: It's (All counted game percentages)/(All counted games) as opposed to (All earned achievements)/(All counted games' achievements)
  
• Demos count. Free to Play games count.
  
• Removed games count.
  
• Games without achievement pages count.

Limited Demos Workaround

What are limited demos? It's just a reference to various achievement games whose demos also contain achievements in which owning the main game makes you ineligible to earn achievements in its demo. Here is its workaround.

The method requires you to go to the steam support page: https://help.steampowered.com/en/wizard/HelpWithGame

Once here, select the full version of the demo you're trying to access. Example: I own Teslagrad, thus it makes playing the Teslagrad Demo for achievements impossible. So at this step, I select Teslagrad (NOT ITS DEMO).



Once you click it, you have the option of removing it from your library permanently. Remove it from your library. Do not worry, you can get it back with no hassle.



Now after that, you'll get a confirmation page to remove the game permanently. Confirm it. Now, download the demo either through this page, or the steam store page. Do the achievements, then once you're done, you can return to the exact same help page.

Once at the help page, search for the game you removed again. Select it.



Pick the obvious choice that the game is no longer in your library. The support will mention that you recently removed the game from your library and gives you the option to add it back.



And there you have it.

Limited Demos

Special Demos

Some demos can still be played despite owning the game provided you follow some steps.
1. Open up the Steam Console: steam://open/console
- Type that into any chat, then click on it to manually open the steam client console.
2. Navigate to said, demo page, then click download demo. This will register the license to your account. Hit cancel, you can't download this way.
3. Now go to the newly opened console tab, and type in 'app_install appid' replacing the appid with the demo's appid. This will now install the demo.
4. Navigate to the demo's folder: Steam/steamapps/common/<demo> and find the .exe to the demo you're trying to attempt.
5. Create a new text document called 'steam_appid' and inside the document, put the appid inside. So the only thing that's inside the document is the appid to the demo, and the file extension must be .txt
6. Run the .exe now and steam should recognize the game and you should be able to earn the achievements now.

Artifex Mundi develops a series of hidden object games, with a touch of puzzle games. For the majority of their releases, it's a simple beat it on normal, beat it on expert.
