Oafmatch is a role-playing game that combines traditional RPG turn-based combat with match-three mechanics.

Join Knuckles the Oaf and his assorted companions in an epic quest to save their stricken nation from the depredations of a powerful, mysterious foe. Go into battle with four party members from thirty playable classes, power up weapons by making colored gem matches, then unleash devastating attacks on your enemies!

Features include:
  • Full controller support
  • Sixty unique equippable weapons, each with five different ranks waiting to be discovered
  • Dozens of wildly differing monsters
  • Thirty playable classes, each with tons of levels to gain and a passive trait to improve
  • Huge campaign
  • Endgame roguelike dungeon with unique rewards such as increased level caps for characters
  • Endgame endless-wave arena battles with rewards that include special legendary weapons
  • New Game Plus, with shuffled loot and extra playable classes available

Oafmatch is a game for match-three lovers and RPG-lovers alike.
It’s also a game for tinkerers; beneath its friendly exterior is a very deep well of party-building and party-outfitting strategic gameplay.

The game’s strategy and tactics revolve around six colors: red, yellow, green, white, blue, and purple. Each character has two colors, a major and a minor one. A properly formed party will have all six colors represented, at least in minor form. Neglect a color at your peril!

Players should make allowances for each character’s special passive trait. The Soulseeker (Red-White), for example, functions best when there are no characters in the party with a major of White to overwhelm his minor in White.

Choose equipment that produces tactical flexibility and resilience.
Equipment can be broken down into the following general categories, with some overlap:
  • Direct damage. These are items that mainly deal damage to one or more targets. An example is the Poleaxe, which damages the target and one random enemy standing next to the target.
  • Board control. These are items that let the player control the flow of play on the 8x8 gem board. An example is the Pipes of Beckoning, which allows the player to precisely choose a handful of gems to be destroyed.
  • Mana management. These items help the player gain mana, or hinder the enemy’s mana generation. An example is the Mana Scalpel, which destroys a small amount from each of the enemy’s mana pools.
  • Board shuffling: These are items that wreak havoc on the board in unpredictable ways, often generating powerful cascading matches and destroying precious enemy special gems in the process. An example is the Orb of Magma, which places a special persistent Magma Gem on the board. Each turn, this Magma Gem destroys the three gems immediately above it.

Learn to pick equipment that compliments the special passive abilities of party members. For example, Deanna the Delver, whose special ability generates a good deal of black mana, can make excellent use of the Wand of Nature’s Wrath, which consumes extra black mana to empower its attacks.

Go into battle with two strategically chosen potions. The wide variety of Oafmatch potions include ones that boost all damage of a certain color, or add mana of a certain color at the start of a battle, or leech a portion of damage dealt back as life. These potions are not consumed when used, so use them in every battle!

Oafmatch: choose your party, outfit it carefully with equipment and potions, then charge into a deeply tactical, beautifully rendered match-three battle.

This looks surprisingly good.

Awesome game! I really hope it gets greenlit!

The one suggestion I'd make would be to make all characters level up together, rather than buy level ups with gold. The best part of the game is tinkering with the team to meet a challenge, and as the roster grows, the harder that becomes.

Heard about this on . Hoping for a match 3 with real depth and team building. Pulling the demo down now. I love Ironcast for a great match 3 with depth. Very hopefull that Oafmatch will become it's "bookend". Good luck!

I love match 3 games and I love them even more when they're RPG!

But I'm not going to support this one though. While I don't mind the artstyle for characters and monsters (I would prefer if the whole game didn't look so much like mobile games though), gems look really lame and uninteresting which is pretty bad as you'll be spending a lot of time in match 3. The UI also looks pretty awful.

Remember Puzzle Quest? This sounds like it, only better in every way. I love it. Hope it will not disappoint!
