Anxiety Attacks voted for IndieDB Game Awards 2015!
Anxiety Attacks DRM downloadable version + Version 1.4 update!
Release date: This game has been Greenlit! Preparing for launch as soon as possible after all the paperworks and better presentation
The Idea
It all starts in a gorgeous and flowery wood, everything's beautiful and sunny, but at some point you feel weak, you're alone and everything begins to be difficult. Walking, breathing, looking, thinking. Very difficult. What's going on?

The Experience
This is an indie game that puts you in a surreal situation and environment, and while playing lets you experience what is like to feel real anxiety while trying to achieve some goals.
The experience has been studied to be both realistic and strongly symbolic at the same time.
Anxiety Attacks tries to emerge from the mass of jumpscare/horror games by offering an accurate, intimate yet effective way to involve the player, YOU, to make you feel how anxiety really feels. How would you react?

No static effects on camera. No common horror clichès, no overused jumpscares. A different approach.
Everything has been carefully studied to let you achieve anxiety while you play.
The playtime as well has been tailored to reflect anxiety, long enough to deliver you the feeling and the message, without trying to overdo.
"What could be so scary to accomplish simple actions?". This experience tries to answer this question, often spoken by people who have never experienced anxiety.

Will you make it to the very end, or are you going to be overwhelmed by anxiety?
Is it easy to handle it? The environment seems to be so relaxing...

Behind the game
About 15% of the entire world population suffers from some kind of anxiety disorder. But exactly, how does it feel?

This is a short indie interactive experience that tries to be as delicate as possible about the subject, yet providing an experience as virtually close as possible as to what many people have to run through in their lives.

I myself got direct experience with anxiety attacks, used this experience to recreate the feelings, and decided to raise awareness about the problem, thus trying to show what really happens when anxiety arises, trying to be as precise as possible.
As an indie developer I felt I had to create this at some point. Many games use suspance or anxiety as an interlude, I thought it would have been interesting to make it protagonist.

Most people who tried the experience told that they have now a better understanding of the problem.

A few words before starting
Unrecommended for people with photosensitive epilepsy, depression, anxiety, panic attacks.
Due to the thematics it is intended to be played by a mature audience.
Please use this experience at your own risk.

What people that have tried it say
"An effective representation of anxiety" - local psychologist

"I had no fear... just... anxiety"

"Short but intense"

"It left me strong feelings about it. Now I think I better understand what many people have to go through every day. I really appreciate the effort, thanks for making this game, technically well made, good job!"

Parece ser muito bom , assim pode - se mostrar a muitas pessoas , o que é que se sente durante um ataque de ansiedade ou de pânico.

@GeekGoddess1337: I hired an artist to work on the cover art. We're mindstorming on the final aspect of the art. Then there will be some bureaucracy and uploading the game. I should manage to do everything in about a month, maybe more. Thanks for your interest in the project :)

Mr. NeatWolf!
Even though I have both major depression and major anxiety, I will play this game. I saw both Markiplier and Jacksepticeye play this. (it was difficult just getting through the videos but it looks like a really great game to play) I can't wait to buy and play this game and I'm excited to start it! This game is very accurate to what it feels like to be in an anxiety attack (thanks to the great and powerful creator), and I absolutely love it for that!! As @scarstalgia, this game looks like a great way for people with anxiety to practice taking control of their anxiety! I love the way you tell your story a bit at the beginning and encourage the player to contoinue on in their journey! THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH for creating this game and creating a way for people, who don't suffer from anxiety attacks, to expierance how they are to people who do expierance them. <3 sending hope your way that your game to hit big sales! Good luck!!

Dear Mr. NeatWolf.
Regardless of your warning towards those suffering under these same disorders and other branches of it, I decided to play the game. Perhaps it might just have been me dissociating in and out during the gameplay, but I found this highly therapeutic and reminded me a lot of the cognitive training during therapy. If anything, it is a great way to exercise these skills! The visual breathing bar helped me a lot in staying calm! I remember during my therapy to usually always slow and down and breath first, so that's exactly what I did in the game as well. Being aware of the thoughts and emotions and letting them pass as they come and go and standing still for a while, just breathing. :)
I was happy to have played this game! I will spread the word about it and wish you the best of luck!

I'm terrible with horror or anything remotely scary and I'm not planning to get this, but I'll leave this comment here to show my support thanks for making an amazing game that represents those who suffer from a serious condition.
