The Madness of Little Emma is a roguelike platformer inspired by games such as Castlevania, Legend of Zelda, American Mcgee's Alice, Binding of Isaac. Help Emma find her little brother who has disappeared in eerie circumstances.

Kill almost 20 rotten bosses, each with its own special attacks and moves
Climb an online ladder in a Ladder Mode

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Emma has lived an innocent and simple life together with her brother Tim until one day he disappeared, just like that. His absence was followed by a short, but spine-chilling series of events. Will Emma find her brother again? Does the answer lie in the depths of her pitch black basement?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The item system in the Madness of Little Emma is very similiar to games such as Binding of Isaac and Castlevania. Starting from the range of small pick-ups like bombs and health-regenerating-hearts and ending with much more interesting items which grant effects such as bouncing bullets, double jump, various shields, usable items like grapping hook, teleports and much more.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Madness of Little Emma introduces the concept of Emma's sanity - the more items you collect, the more wicked everything becomes. After collecting a number of items instead of encountering bugs and insects, Emma's fears start to materialize in the forms of sinister creatures which are much more dangerous than a mere bee. The sanity concept allows for some balance of the difficulty by the player himself.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When developing new types of enemies my main focus was to make each one feel unique and require a different strategy when encountered. While it is pretty simple for Emma to just dodge the attacks of the first enemies she meets and kill them like that, later foes require some planning when fighting - like not allowing to get Emma cornered against black demons, trying to not stand still against baby heads and so on and so on.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As a roguelike, The Madness of Little Emma has tons of replayability and while it might take around 30 minutes to complete a whole game, the procedurally generated levels and varied items and enemies make each playthrough feel different. Also an online ladder which is not limited to daily runs adds a little bit of competitive thrill for those seeking it.
