BlitzMax goes open source

Ok, I've taken the plunge and open sourced BlitzMax! Please see the products section if your interested in grabbing the full source code (which really only means bcc).

I still plan to keep it running on future versions of windows/xcode etc, but I think it's reached the point now where it belongs more to the community than it does to me.

This means this site now only hosts open source stuff (although there are still links to monkey and the blitz3d manual on the products page) which I think is kind of exciting. I'll probably add a 'donate' button too, to cover some of the server costs and maybe even provide additional funding for monkey2.

Release date: Christmas 2015
BlitzMax is the ultimate programming language for rapid development of games and GUI applications for Windows, Mac and Linux oomputers.

Easy to Learn
BlitzMax is a BASIC language, with human-readable syntax and an easy-to-use command set. This makes it easy to learn programming fundamentals and apply them to make your own games and applications. There's no better way to get started programming than with BlitzMax. And because BlitzMax is an all-in-one package, there's no need to download or configure any external IDE's, compilers, libraries, or SDKs.

Rapid Development
Whether you're a seasoned pro or a complete beginner, the simplicity and ease of BlitzMax development will increase your productivity and let you do more. BlitzMax compiles into high-performance machine code, with performance nearly as fast as optimized C++ code. That means you can make high-performance professional applications in a fraction of the time it would take in other languages.

Cross-Platform Support
With BlitzMax, your games will look and act the same on Windows, Mac, and Linux computers. And with MaxGUI you can write native professional-looking GUI applications for each platform with the same code.

I'd love to see this on Steam. If only people could see how many hours I've used BlitzMax making my games!

I have been a big fan of Blitzmax for over 10 years. I am now introducing it to my kids. It is so quick, easy, and way more flexible than you might think at first. I keep coming back to it.
