The Double Tap

This is an average position to be in, 3 blocks above you there is a branch and then a branch on the other side 3 above that. To get past these sections all you have to do is tap: AA | DD (or vise versa)

Using this technique you can get through these areas without using too much time.
Take your time
A lot of people rush cutting the tree and up dying before running out of time, this happens even more in multiplayer where people are trying to go as fast as they can. You have time so in a challenging spot don't be afraid to slow down a little.

Take Breaks
After hitting your A and D keys 1000's of times your fingers are going to get sore, this lowers your overall performance and won't get better untill you take a break, when ever you reach a certain goal take a 5 minute break or just do something else.

Have Fun
My last tip is just have fun, the times I've done my best I wasn't trying to get a high score, simply playing the game.

The Exploit
While I do not recommend using this technique as it is an exploit there is a way to almost double your score. I am putting this here so the devs can fix it.

If you press A and <- at the same time you get 2 points for 1 cut of the tree, it also gives you twice as much time as a normal chop would. So by using both ASD and the arrowkeys at the same time you can double your score and only have to go half as fast.
Conclusion
I hope you have found this guide helpful and informative

Happy Chopping,

Taking a break was some good advice.

Pressing ESC right before getting hit (those touchy areas) is a good area to take a break for just a few moments.
