How to unlock the fps in MGS5
By Rankhole |
Ever wanted to have MORE than 60 fps? Whether because you have a monitor supporting more heartz, or because you just want to feel the placebo. Here is how to do it :)

Whenever you change the graphic settings INGAME, you need to uncap the fps AGAIN! (In ingame Settings, there is no "variable".)

Enjoy :)

Folders needed
change "framerate_control" from "auto" to "variable"

A lot of people say it could mess with the physics, so far I played more than 15 hours with unlocked FPS and all I can say is i did never have those issues. Maximum fps were 80-120 (different graphics options).

Do not worry: it will NOT mess up anything :)

Sorry I ment display lag.

Anyway saying we can only say 60 fps is like saying the human hand can't be over ______ dexerious, yet we have people free shooting dimes that are thrown in the air with revolvers. Maybe YOU can't process over 60 fps, but i sure as hell can.

where do people get this information from? Your eyes don't see in FPS, and depending on the person, the human brain can see the diffrence in frames at ludicrous amounts well over 60. 60 is just the MINIMUM in order to not feel sluggish and unresponsive due to input lag. I would like some sources before you start acting all matter of factly @A Holly Jolly Suicidal Cripple

Jesus fucking christ idiots it has been scientificly prooven that the human eye can see upp to 400-500 frames per second.

@Eadwyn You are correct, the human eye can see 60-67 fps. But a higher refresh rate goes beyond drawing more frames on screen per second, it means less screen tearing, no v-sync induced in game engine lag from putting a cap on the fps and it means less ghostig and tracing on the monitor. The over all expierence is smoother and enabls us to responde better, even the mouse curor feels smoother because we're able to see a sharper image. Higher frame rate = sharper image to our eyes.

@Eadwyn no it's not true anymore, people/gamer nowdays can see the different between 60fps and 144 fps provided if they have the hardware to support it.. just try it in 100hz-144hz monitor and of course high end graphic card that can achieve 100-144 fps, then lock your FPS to 30-60-120-144 .. I have tested it .. althrough it's my big bro monitor, but the different is very noticeable between 60fps-120fps
Just watch this video if you still not believe it.

@darkmatter 60 fps is as much as the human eye can see.

Yep 144HZ looks one hell of a shit load than 60HZ and +100FPS looks much better than crummy 60FPS. But some people have shit eyes and can't see shit. Just because the human eye is about 30HZ per eye don't mean you have 60FPS eyes, eyes do not work like that.
