Racial Reinforcements

Description
Forward Note

Now when called for I am always ready to get 'stuck' in with the men, feel their pain as if it were my own. This is an important trait of leadership as I'm sure you have gathered already from this tome. Why on my last campaign I had to make do with only the one horse groomer's assistant. Matilda's coat has never quite looked the same. War can be truly barbaric...

'My Glorious Career' by Arcadion the Indomitable

Introduction

This mod aims to add a number of new units to every races lineup in order to add more diversity and tactical options to the game. This mod does not intend to be an overhaul of the game, I won't be changing any vanilla units or abilities. Instead this mod aims to be an expansion to the base AoW, with new units which are appropiate and fit into the exisiting lineups without being too unusual. These new units will be fully incorporated into the game; they will require certain buildings, have icons, will appear in neutral stacks, have their own flavour text etc.

Balance is of great importance and I will rely on players honest feedback as to the power of each unit in respect to its comparisons.

Current Units

Human Units;

- Human Swordsman (Tier I)
- Human Crossbowman (Tier I)
- Human Outrider (Tier II)
- Human Foot Guard (Tier II)

Highelf Units;

- Highelf Bladesman (Tier I)
- Highelf Stormbow (Tier II)

Orc Units;

- Orc Headhunter (Tier I)
- Orc Grunt (Tier I)

Goblin Units;

- Goblin Rabble (Tier I)
- Goblin Halfbreed (Tier I)
- Goblin Skewer (They're Back!!) (Tier I)

Draconian Units;

- Draconian Temple Guard (Tier I)
- Unbroken Raptor (Tier I)

Dwarf Units;

- Dwarf Shield Bearer (Tier I)

Halfling Units;

- Halfling Man-at-arms (Tier I)

Tigran Units;

- Tigran Predator (Tier I)
- Tigran Bond-Huntress (Tier II)

Frostling Units;

- Frostling Marauder (Tier I)

Dwelling Units;

- Archon Revenant Pikeman (Tier I)
- Archon Revenant Cavalry (Tier II)
- Archon Revenant Legionary (Tier II)

Bonus Heroes;

- Arcadion the Indomitable (Hero Dreadnaught)

The legendary commander Arcadion who wrote the best selling book 'My Glorious Career' can now be aquired in game as a human dreadnaught! Now it's your chance to write the next chapter of his 'heroic' tale!

- Selene Luchetti (Hero Rogue)

The Ex-criminal and writer of 'The Careless Life of a Rogue' Selene Luchetti can now be aquired in game as a human Rogue. Time for another misadventure...

Development Notes

- I am currently working from Tier 1 and going up! As such you can expect a few more tier 1's and a full group of tier 2's before I move onto tier 3's. Tier 4's may become a different mod designed to work with this one (so you can pick if you want them). The same applies to class units.

- I am open to players giving me some ideas of what kind of units they would like to see or what changes I can make! I can only work with what I have in the game (I have no texture or modelling skills) but there is already alot there to work with. Please feel free to post as much as you want in the discussion boards; I will read these for advice.

- As this is a work in progress much of what I have done already may change over time. For example every unit will no doubt undergo some balance changes as the mod continues to develop.

Racial Governance Upgrades

All my units are associated with any upgrades that seemed appropiate. Of course to maintain the minimal possible changes to the core game I have not changed the upgrades themselves, simply the units will benefit from any upgrades which are right for their class/race/type.

For example the orc headhunter will benefit from the patron orc military upgrade, as this upgrades the base orc infantry units, even though it doesn't say it will.

Regiments Mod Patch

If you are interested in using this mod with the excellent 'regiments' mod by Inviktys then there is a patch avaliable at the following link;

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=637167770 - Big Regiments Patch

Other Mod Compatability

As this mod purposefully doesn't change anything about the core game it should be compatable with any other mods you want to install at the same time!

Don't know what people are complaining about, this mod is great.

If you want a mod similar to this that is still active and more fleshed out, I'd point you to Chivalrous Intentions.

It's not a top 8 mod for quality though. It never made it to the ranking of the best 20 mods as rated by the community: https://www.the-battlefield.com/aow3/index.php?page=commnews&eingabenewsid=77 (and it was not in the previous poll either)
It has a lot of subscribers just because it was released in 2015 at a time where AoW3 had a lot of players and mod tools had just been released so a few mods got drowned by subscribers.

By the way, the poll on the best mods as of 2019 is still running, you can vote here: https://www.the-battlefield.com/aow3/index.php?page=bf_poll&pollnumber=37

Ok, telling a Top 8 mod to discontinue for insane reasoning is just plain trolling, screw that guy. I picked the game as Humble Bundle and I can't wait to add more units, seeing as they look great.

This mode looks very well done and seemless on the paper, and I have definitively to try it. A few ideas/concerns before even playing it:
- Doesn't it compete with class units, removing a bit of class-flavor?
- It's perhaps better if the mod got discontinued because too much of variety could have killed variety: having more T1 units and evolving possibilities is enough for me as compared to having tons of higher tier units (again, competing with vanilla units and decreasing the special flavor of a class/race combination, given that AoW games aren't especially diverse on the racial theme, already).
- Perhaps some of those new units could be reserved for evolving T1 racial irregulars? (I especially think about HE initiates evolving into stormbows.)

Hmm, doesn't it an incentive for a modder to goes on with this mod from where it was left? (Also, adding a small chance for class units to evolve in higher tier class units)

just tried it in conjunction with empire building and seemed to work fine. some units did not benefit from additional starting ranks from buildings (t3 baracks) or technologies (like modern warfare).

Any chance of making this compatible with Empire Building Mod and the New Arsenal mod (which also provide more units)?
