Useful notes [WIP]
By RonjaLin
This guide is not finished, it only covers half of the game by now! As of 4 October 2015 I make it visible to the public, since I did not play it in two weeks because of Final Fantasy V.

Just a few useful notes (may contain spoilers). This is not intended to be a walkthrough but if you are able to do some things on your own it can be used as one. However, it should list all achievements you get on certain points.

Part 1: Quest for the orbs
These notes are unsorted, or rather in the timeline that I encountered the things ingame. These might be slightly modified in the latter regard, i.e. if there are no further requirements, then bringing things together that can be done at the same time.
Note that there will be spoilers. I tried to avoid the bigger ones by using tags, but due to place names this might not always have worked, so please read only up to where you are currently unless you want to be spoiled. Especially from part 3 on when the game becomes partially nonlinear, there can be spoilers. Try to explore everything for yourself before resorting to these notes, if you are concerned.

General
- You can only enter houses with round doors, not with square doors.
- Save often and use different slots!
- Blue beats Red, Red beats Green, Green beats Blue

Azureus
- Missable Achievement "Friendly Advice": Speak with Kelly (northeast of the fountain) when you're on the mission to go to the inn. This must be done before saying "Yes" inside the inn. (1/3)

Castle Ruins
- Missable Achievement "Shades of Truth": On the first and second floor, speak to the guys who seem to be soldiers. After you talked to all, you get the achievement. This must be done before fighting the boss!
- Boss fight: Easy if you buff yourself with the Sharp skill and use two times Whirlwind Slash. If he still is alive, just attack.
- Blue Orb: Courage = HP +10; Strength = STR +2, Wisdom = MP +5. You can choose only one of them. I personally prefer Strength, as I deem HP and MP less important.
- Story Achievement "Feelin' Blue": After you made a choice at the blue orb, you get the story achievement "Feelin' Blue".

- Other: Note there were stairs in the north east one could not access yet!

Azureus (blue)
- Missable Achievement "Friendly Advice": Speak with Kelly again until she has nothing new to say. (2/3)
- You don't need to buy anything, but if you want to make the game easier, make sure you have 1 or 2 healing items in your inventory.

Estriatus
- To advance, you must open all chests.
- Save when you're on the world map! You must make the next few screens without any chance to heal, except for your inventory items.

Forest
- After the talk, go up the forest (the brown line). The guy is not on the screen to the right.

Forest Dungeon
- The springs in the east and west restore HP and MP. The one in the south can't be drunk from.
- Explore everything to find some better equipment before fighting the boss. Remember to save near the save point.
- Talk to the guy on the next screen to be able to fight the boss.
- Use the Steal spell three times on the boss to get three potions. The fight should be easy. Cure yourself if necessary with the spell.
- Green Orb: Speed: AGI +2; Strength: STR +2; Cunning: DEX +2. Because of the way the stats work (see links), STR is in my opinion the most useful choice here.
- Story achievement: Green Thumb, after taking the Green Orb.

Estriatus (green)
- Talk to the elder (house below the village entrance) before you leave the village. If you need to, stock up on potions.

Red Mage Tower
- Take all the chests.
- The bed on the second floor restores all HP and MP.

World Map
- Follow the path to the left to find a chest with 200 gold.
- On the right is a chest that can't be taken yet.

Volcano
- I think it is not a bug but intended: The enemies take damage from the Fire spell, so use it often until you leveled up enough to take them on easily in hand vs. hand combat. Once you get Water, use that instead. When you have the better weapon, melee is an option.
- Explore everything for better equipment, there are four entrances to the middle part but the south is useless. The north leads to the underground.
- Grinning Ember may use a suicide attack, but you still get his experience and gold. However, as it does some damage, you want to avoid it.
- Once you feel strong enough, take on the boss. You must go through the underground passage for that. Make sure to save at the save point.
- Red Orb: Health: HP +10; Magic Power: MP +5; Knowledge: INT +2
- Story Achievement: Seeing Red, after getting the Red Orb.
Part 2: Saving the world
Forest
- Although in theory it should not make a difference, losing the battle against the thief gives a game over. It takes dedication to lose anyway.

World Map
- Grab the chests to the east and west, then enter the house.
- Azureus can not be re-entered yet.

Blue Mage House
- Story achievement: From the depths

World Map
- Use Wind magic for enemies, as the continent is blue.

Green Mage Tower
- The bed on the second floor can be used to restore HP and MP.

Ice Cavern
- Explore everything, including the underground. The chamber is right at the beginning but locked.
- Save at the save point.
- After retrieving the key, leave the dungeon and heal in the Green Mage Tower. Then return and open the chamber and save.
- Story Achievement: After taking the orb, you get the achievement "The Greater Good".
Part 3: The journey is far from over
World Map
- Rest in the Green Mage Tower first. You need it.
- The Airship might bug out. Leave and re-enter it if you can't leave the continent.
- Missable achievement "Friendly Advice": Return to Azureus and talk to the girl again. (3/3) The achievement should pop. If it doesn't pop after the scene, you missed it somewhere earlier.
- You can freely move around the map now. Use this to find some chests, one includes a Steel Defense Knife. I don't know why you can explore some islands, but others not. It seems to have something to do with the ground texture, but especially in grass the difference is hard to see for me.
- Once you're done, you have several options on where to go. I picked the snow island again to visit a newly appeared village. I'm not sure if this is necessary, you might directly be able to go to the castle instead, but the village contains another armor piece, so it is recommended by me to go there first.

??? (Snow Village)
- Grab both chests in the houses.
- Do not enter the inn. Or if you want to know why: Save before entering the inn. The boss there is too strong currently, just remember there is one. I assume it can't be beat yet.

World Map
- Go to the island with Azureus and to the north of it. There is a cube structure you can enter.

??? (Cube)
- Place the orbs inside the pillars to open the door.

Factory
- Achievement "Critical Error": Talk to the robots to receive an achievement.
- There are no enemies, so explore everything and take the chests. The way is blocked at the end, but after you talk to the robot and enter your real name or anything else you want you can pass. You can change it by talking to the robot again.
- To the north of the save point, a robot will heal you, prior to any dangers. Use it if necessary.
- The shortcut to the south stays open once unlocked. This is even true if you leave the building.
- Go to the north when you're done. It is a good idea to have a few items that restore MP before the next step, and additionally grind to level 12 first. Speak with the wall to advance. After the story, you are in another world.
Part 4: The Dust
You are in another world.

World map
- The Extinguish skill deals the most damage here.
- Missable achievement "Who Builds These Things Anyway?": Make sure you read every signpost in the dungeon here. Just read every single one to be safe. There are four where you start. A fifth one is in front of the inn. Number six at the northern end of the place with the inn. Number seven is next to the coffee shop. (1/2)
- I did not find any place to rest/rejuvenate prior to an inn quite some way into the map. The inn is for free, thankfully. This is also an opportunity to grind a few levels if you didn't before entering this world.
- As always, explore everything, but don't enter the coffee shop yet.
- Going inside the coffee shop and trying to leave it triggers an event. Make sure you have read the first five signs before going there. While you're inside, buy a coffee.
- Missable achievement "Who Builds These Things Anyway?": After the coffee shop, the eighth and final signpost next to the cave can be accessed. Reading it should award the achievement. (2/2)

Boulder Cave
- Level 12 seems to be the minimum to have enough magic to defeat the boss (without wasting items). In addition, he has a strong attack. Cleave works fine against him, and then Whirlwind Slash and Extinguish. If he is too strong, leveling up some more in the previous area or in the cave might help, or using items if some are left.
- After healing, one can explore more of the cave, making sure to collect all chests. The next one, north after where the boss was, is only accessible from the right side. The third one is to the south of the cave exit.

World Map
- The girl just outside the cave heals all HP and MP.
- The left fence leads to a chest.
- The next boss deals lots of damage if he gets to deal damage. Use strong spells like Extinguish and Hurricane Slash all the time. Good luck!

The Factory
- You get the achievement "Consumed by Dust" after the cutscene and talk.
Part 5: How can we fight something like this?
Traveller's House
- The house is on a small desert island to the west of Azureus. The traveller gives out some items based on the steps taken since the beginning of the game, so checking back is recommended. Alternatively, steps quickly accumulate while using the airship, so this could be used to get the items.
-- 10000 (?): Elixir
-- 15000 (?): Mega Fenix
-- 20000: Mega Elixir
-- 25000:

Chryseus or Bruneus (Desert area)
- The next step is to visit the desert south of Azureus. This can be done from the city Chryseus, south of Azureus, or Bruneus, east of the desert. There are quite some chests on the world map to get, but for now it is better to stick to the desert, the ones in the brown area can be gotten later. Of interest are a better helm and a better dagger in two chests in the western desert, the Horus Helm is in the northwest, the Lotus Dagger near the pyramid in the southwest.

Bruneus
- Since the enemies in the Pyramid is strong, it is time again to level up a bit. Also, the mage gets the third tier of his spells starting with level 14, which deal quite some damage but also cost much mana. Unfortunately, there seems to be no restoration point in the Pyramid. What I did is leveling near Bruneus, as there the monsters give the same XP as in the Pyramid. It is possible to get all the chests near Bruneus while training if one is careful. The only interesting one seems to be two islands to the east and then one to the south, the Obelisk Shield. But that one comes with drawbacks as well.
Thanks and useful links
- Thanks to the developer "Critical Games" for the list of missable achievements in the forum:

- After I started this guide, an 100 percent achievement guide popped up. Thanks for this to the author! Please look there for easy to read achievement descriptions. My guide, while also covering many achievements, does not cover all and not intend to, so there is the place to look:

I don't know what engine exactly was used for this game, but this should at least give an approximation.

this game starts well but loses its steam before and after the game boy world section

For boss in the Boulder Cave and the last one of the other world, they can be done before LV12, I did them at LV7-9, you can actually simply Blind them with the Thief's Smoke Bomb, heck blinding the boss in the Boulder will make his AoE miss 100% of the time.
