Demo Update! 1004.2
Materials
3 materials have been enabled for this demo along with the related UI elements in the ship editor. Simply select the parts you want to change a material for then click the material in the left panel.
In the live game you will be given a small set of 'starter' materials other materials can be unlocked through various means such as joining a faction or corporation or as rewards or even loot on your adventures.
And yes you will be able to mod materials ;-)

Weapons
This demo includes cannon, beam and missile type weapons with a simple version of each available in the ship editor. Fire groups are disabled so all demo weapons will be placed on the primary group (just add an left click to fire em all).
In the live game you will have a range of basic weapons to choose from in each of the size + category brackets. Different weapons have different fire rates, ranges, accuracy, limitation and ship requirements and can be assigned to 'fire groups' much like a 'spell bar'. Fire groups which we will introduce in a later demo can be manually controlled or assigned to special crew quarters for automatic firing we will also be introducing a new weapon category 'deployable' in a later demo update.

HUD and UI
This demo includes a number of changes to the Demo menus though should feel familiar to previous updates. A simplified version of the game settings has been included though be aware this is a dev demo build and the Unity stock settings still overrides, non-stock settings will no save between sessions.
In addition to the new settings you will notice changes to the ship editor and combat UI in preparation for the next demo update.

The best place to see what's new and what's coming next is the roadmap[trello.com].

Demo Downloads
Windows
Linux

We will be looking to make the Linux build a bit more friendly to install/setup at current you will be downloading a .zip and with in you will find Terran.x86 and Terran.x86_64. Choose the one that best fits your machine, you'll need to make it executable but that should be it.

This update includes changes to the UI, addition of a settings preview for UI colour, updates to the ship stat calculations and a new combat UI as well as additions of multiple camera modes.

There is a PDF in the archive to get you started and in game you will find notes on the left panel.

Description
Release date: Late Q1 / Early Q2 2016
Set in the distant future, man has evolved beyond flesh and bone and is now one with the machine. Your journey starts as a young Terran pilot, taking his or her first steps into the galaxy. You are free to join or form factions, corporations, bounty hunter gangs, or even crime syndicates as you forge your own story in a living evolving galaxy. Whether you fly solo or with a massive fleet, take a role in government or start a corporation, the galaxy and game-play will respond in kind to your choices and performance.

Terran is not your average space life simulator. Your ship’s event system ensures a multitude of activities at your fingertips, warping you to your destination instantly. The events may be mission orders and opportunities, or from a host of civil, military, and environmental pursuits that grant you the chance to shape the galaxy or be shaped by it. The rewards for success and the consequences for failure are determined by how you choose to engage with these unfolding events.

Design your own ships
Build your ship from an expanding array of parts in any of the 13 capital class categories. Research, manufacture, buy, steal and discover new parts. Assemble killer ships and even share them with your friends.

Command & Control
Receive and issue tactical orders in real time combat. Relationships, culture, and individual persona affects how your forces will respond to your orders. Objectives can be issued but loyalty determines how or even if they will be followed.

Capital Ship Combat
Take direct real time control of a massive capital class warship and participate in single ship, wing, flotilla, division and full fleet actions. From the agile corvette well under a hundred meters long to the huge Gar which can exceed 2,000 meters what you fly has a major impact on how you fly.

Civilization Management
Become the leader of a world, system, sector, region or the whole galaxy! You can join and rise in the ranks or form your own faction, corporation, crime syndicate or bounty hunter team. Grow and expand through military power, business savvy or political tenacity.

Galactic Quests
The galaxy is always evolving, reacting to NPCs and you. Events are always right at your fingertips with zero flying aimlessly in empty space. How you choose to engage in them or if at all will guide the continuous evolution of your story.

Immersion
Like a true Thespian Terran is always in character and never admits it’s a game. You are a Terran pilot, a being merged with machine, feared and respected across the known galaxy. The game will present as if it’s your ship OS and the galaxy will respond to your skill and style presenting a constantly evolving and changing experience.

Native VR Support
Built in and ready to go support for popular VR headsets and of course for traditional screen play.

Heathen Engineering's Terran is still under development; features may be changed, added, removed during development. Be sure to check back frequently for news and updates!
