Description
Salvage and retrieval ship, The Salvador

First of all this ship was a headache to make.
The shaping was no problem, but leaves very little flexibility for the interior.
I went for a oldschool, rusty, a "bucket of bolts kept together by ducktape"-look.
The ship is supposed to look old and worn.
I wanted the inside to feel cramped and impractical, think of the ishimura from deadspace 1.

I wrote a little diary log from a crewmember who just had his first day serving this ship,
to give a bit of feeling to the ship, for those who are intrested.
You can also find it inside the ships crew compartments.

The ship is designed as retrieval and salvage ship.
Its job includes finding unclaimed wreckages and turning them into scrap, to be legally ( or illegally ) sold at an industrial Production station.
Sometimes the crew is given private contract by clients, who are very keen on having their lost ( sensative? ) cargo back.
Therefor this is ship mainly owned by private, small scale companies.
But because of its features, the ship is also very popular amongst pirate gangs.

It features a small hangar, fitting for small utility crafts or shuttles.
It is also fitted with an automated airlock systems as well as an production area with 4 boosted assemblers
and on one side a grinder array, that wil activate on proximity.

Additionally the outfitting contains 6 cryochambers for the crewmembers, a main area with the medbay,
engine room, crew compartments and another automated airlock and system wise a frontal colission detection
and a hull breach detection, which will close all doors on the ship to prevent oxygen from escaping.
The front of the ship is designed to dock the ship with large platforms.

Becaus of its function, its not rare for the crew to encounter pirates at the mission location, because of this, it is equipped with:
-4 Gatlin turrets
-2 rocket pods, ( normal fucntion is to detonate dangerous wreckages )
-5 defensive interiour turrets on the hull
-2 detachable turret mines in the back, either for distraction while making an escape or to damage small crafts

Oxygen ready, No mods.

Huge thanks to Tartaross inc. for making another video and keeping me going!

Normally, i don't do lore like this, but since the function and feel of this ship is so specific,
i felt like this is necessary to those who are interested.

First day.

The ship is an old model. Didn't knew these bricks were stil there.
A persistant faint smell of gasoline, of wich the orgin is never to be found.
Inflation-pressure which is never really what you would like it to be.
And then there is the ducktape that covers the holes made by micro meteorites. I suppose it works fine.
But it is a solid ship in the end.
It's main functions are reliable. The engines wont ever quit on you.
And the ships systems are able to practically reproduce the entire ship,
although still with the ducktape, that is.
The overal design is impractical at best.
Checking the conveyer pipes for a plugging is hellish and the only working expierience I had so far.

The crew doesn't seem to like me. They are nice people though.
I have seen them laugh and talk together, even caught an educated joke.
But they wont talk to me any more then necessary. Can't really blame them I suppose.
I'm the new guy that fills the job of their late companion. He went out nasty.
The Captain was nice enough to fill me in.
Story goes that arjen (?) went for a routine spacewalk, to check for valuable materials before demolition.
But against the odds, the wreckage was still presurised.
The implosion took his left arm off first, then a chain reaction had mercy on his soul when the rest blew
up right next to him.
It was nobodys faulth, but until i have proven my worth, I am just the new guy that's suppose to fill in his job.

am confident though, the captain seems like a nice guy.
The kind of guy that "knows people". I think he picked me for the job because he
believes I'm able to prove my worth and get along with the rest of the crew.
And so I will. I intent to stay. It's a fair job. Money's good.
And soon enough my job wil be getting more interesting.

The ships traces old vessels. We find lost private sails, misjumped cargo drones that
hit a roid and salvage them for scrap.
But tomorrow wil be diferent.
Two days of jumping, to find a highjacked comercial freighter.
It's a private contract and the owner is very keen on having his wares back.
There might be pirates...

FYI, the OPA ships in The Expanse Season 4 Episode 4 look remarkably exactly like the Salvador.

@Dietotenwalker, stand in the map room at the switch panel. In front of you on your left is the door to the air leak room. Grind the sloped base on the left of the door & place a full block in it's place. Air leak fixed :)

@Aragath, Thank you for the many wonderful ships that you have made.

the main room before the cockpit isnt pressurized. is this a design flaw or done on purpose? Ive been around the entire room inside and out trying to find the breech but there doesnt seem to be one.

This ship kinda looks like a marathon class cruiser and a charon class light frigate fused

you know that a pressurized ship would DECOMPRESS not IMPLODE
It would probably work better if the decompression threw Arjen into the side of the wreck and accidentally set of the demolition charges
