The mission of the Spy :

His primary target is the enemy Medic because the Ubercharge is very important in competitive. Indeed, as Spy you have to kill the enemy Medic.
Morever the enemy Sniper is an easy target for the Spy.
To help your Demoman, as Spy you can sap the enemy Engineer's constructions at the same time he is using his Stickybomb Laucher.
To get easy kills you can backstab the enemies when they are shooting your team mates, that is to say when they do not look at their back.
Do not forget to reload your invisibility time with the ammo packs (except if you have the Cloak and Dagger)

Melee : Knife / Spycicle / Big Earner / Conniver's Kunai

The Ambassadeur can make crits all time if you have a good aim without needing a backstab before like the Diamondback. That is why the Ambassadeur is the best gun for the Spy. Morever it permits the Spy to counter the Razorback with a Headshot.
All the cloaking devices are valable in competitive.
Do not use the Eternal Reward because you cannot be disguised if you do not backstab someone.
