We’ve been greenlit!
Moving forward

Despite the astonishing nature of being greenlit, development on Text Quest has not slowed down. Level by level and letter by letter progress is going well. We are working as hard as we can to create the best game possible! (Including work on a few new features we hope to reveal soon…)

Dev streaming

Our project lead is still streaming Text Quest's development over on Twitch[]. Tune in every Tuesday at 8:00 PM EDT to see him code, design, and art (we think?) his way through the game’s development, and feel free to talk or ask questions.

Being greenlit was only one step along the way to getting Text Quest out of development and into your hands, and we intend to keep stepping along until the game is finished!

Thanks for all the support, and happy gaming!

Dev Stream Update

The dev stream last week performed interestingly abysmally interestingly as expected. Started a little rocky due to some technical problems, but I think we got through it. Starting tomorrow, the dev stream is going to begin half an hour later than previously, at 8:00 PM EST (to better accommodate any central or western viewers). We will still be airing Tuesdays and Thursdays over on Twitch[]. We will also be archiving the streams over on Sleepy Owl’s YouTube channel.

Feel free to stop by the stream and posit any thoughts or questions you might have. Or just talk. Or... laugh as I model and program. Whatever works best for you.

Shout Outs

Quick shout out to YouTuber Zeshin for doing a let’s play on Text Quest!

Thanks everyone, and see you on the stream.

Release date: Early 2016
Text Quest is a first-person text based adventure where everything in the world is shaped by the words representing it.

A tree is the word tree. Grass is the word grass repeating along the ground. And invisible walls- well, you get the idea.

Explore the land, from the darkest forest to the most colossal of caves, in search of treasure and fame on this literal text quest.

Inspired by the text games of old, Text Quest seeks to update the interactive fiction genre to a more interesting and playable state than its more imaginary intensive predecessors. Mix in open exploration with extra replayability from hard mode (which reworks puzzles while adding new ones much more reminiscent of the 80’s and 90’s moon logic experienced in older adventure titles), and players should find plenty of entertainment on their journey. With a unique approach to adventure games, alongside a fair bit of puns and wordplay, we hope you will enjoy playing Text Quest.

Creative concept. I like it! One thing I've always wanted, however, is a 3D version of the classic PC game "Adventure".

Voted YES, great and innovative idea! I may stop by and view the stream tomorrow, if its still on for then. Good luck!

Oh wow. What an interesting and exiting game you have there. I'm all down for some 3D adventure games, but when everything around you is written down, LITERALLY, it makes it even more interesting and unique. I did play the demo of it, and it gave a fairly good impression, so you have my vote and my support for the developement of the game. If you want to see my reaction in real time, I made a small let's play of it right here: .
There are a few things that could be added, like more exploration elements and choices(no adventure game is complete without some moral choices), but yeah, apart from that it looks pretty neat, so good luck with this piece of art...

Looks cool, and seems to have a lot of backing behind it. Really love the mix of first-person adventure and classic text games. I would love to play it, if it gets greenlit. Good luck!

This looks interesting, it reminds me a bit of Stanley Parable in a good way. Voted!

I thought it was like a game with only a console, where you type in actions, But I found out that EVERYTHING was made out of text. Good job devs! :p2turret:
