How to day 1

I will tell you what i have done to survive the first night.

Daytime

Collect berries by spamming E on bushes.
punch a tree for wood, look for a stone to pick up (E) and then make a pickaxe.
Make a fire at the end of the day (use your emgrams to learn how to use it).
Dont get meat of dodos or any other animal since meat spoils in about 5 minutes (not all at once thankfully, but one out of the stack). Do fight off dilos (the ones who spitt a lot) if they get to close to your camp location. They are pretty much blind on a big server though so you are portably fine. Portably.
Also, Leveling up gives you emgrams. And early on you will level up fast (or die, your choice). Everything gives you experience. Everything.

Getting dark and night.

DO NOT PLACE THE CAMPFIRE YET. You dont want to waste wood. Do make one though. Once its night and you found a nice place with some trees near (but near a source of water), That dosent have too many hostile dinos near, place the campfire. It will use about 25 wood for the entire night. Now i hope you have a dodo near or a ton of berries. Or you will starve. Early on, make sure dodos are alone or just walk two or two because larger groups WILL run you over. Much like the Soviet Union did on Germany 1944 - 1945. The dodo(s) wont give you more than a few chunks of meat but thats all you need. Now cook the raw meat by holding E or just press F on the fire to acces its inventory.
then place the meat in it. A fire have 3 inventory slot and once a log is burned it makes coal. Coal is useless early on so just throw it away or shocke a dodo with it. That should be all you need to know about your first ARK night.

I wanted to try the game without tips or advice.
My first night haven't been exactly this way:
Punched a tree, got a rock, realized my hunger was going down, decided to fish, punched a fish, drown to death... That's when I realized there was no fishers amongst the hunter-gatherers...
