Formula C has been Greenlit
Starting Anew
Release date: Mid 2016

Formula C is a challenging time based racing game with gliding physics, a powerful track editor and virtual reality support.

It's based in an abstract simulation with a well balanced, high performance vehicle on a slippery track. This creates a challenging experience which is very rewarding to master. You are able to restart instantly (no countdown at all) so there is minimal frustration while trying to perfect your line.

Features include:
  • Single player mode
  • A powerful, yet simple track editor
  • Gliding physics
  • Instant restart
  • Virtual reality support
  • Competitive multiplayer options (real-time or challenge based)

The single player campaign will be a collection of unique tracks with a good progression in difficulty. There will be a preliminary set in the early access version but we expect to get a lot of inspiration from the player base to create better ones before the final version.

You will have the ability to download tracks from other players and share your own.

The track editor works by programmatically generating the track geometry. That allows the user to choose what type of section they want (turn, banking change, slope change, etc.), then completely customise the characteristics such as radius, angle, width, etc.

This system is designed to be powerful, yet simple to use.

You will be able to send challenges to friends, where you can pick a track, set how much time or how many tries are allowed. Then the best time you can achieve will be sent to your friend for them to try to beat, and they will have the opportunity to send one in return.

There will also be real time multiplayer options, where you can host some races or join on someone else. It will still be time based with no contact, so it's all down to the individual's skill. There will be handicapping options in both types of multiplayer, which could be used to level the playing field a bit when there are noticeable differences in player skill.

Formula C is still in the alpha stages of development, but nearing beta as the core functionality is nearly done. The last major feature remaining is the multiplayer, where the challenge system is only just operational and we will start working on the server based functionality soon.

This stage of development will be a good time to see feedback from a large player base. Which will help us refine some of the details. So we will be release it as early access very soon after being Greenlit. Please help us out by voting yes and sharing this with other people.

Thanks MintArcade, we are increasing the speed for the next demo version which should be ready in a matter of weeks.

This version will be a much better demonstration of what the full game will be like and we will do another push to get it Greenlit once it's ready.

Thanks Cyberbrickmaster86 for the feedback. The visuals are something we will be working on and we have plans to add many more scenery objects to choose from as well as a number of backgrounds.

I've updated the description to provide more information about the current state of the game and what we are working on.
