How to make SFM Posters:For Newbies
By Hog
You want to make some SFM posters! Read dis guide den! Note I am not the best, but I at least can show you the basics of making a poster.
Step #1:Map and Positioning
What kind of setting do you want? You want to be a ninjaneer, sneaking past the enemy lines,or do you want to be the daring medic standing in broad daylight, just to have a good poster? Of course, the map really matters. Not only should the map have an idea of your setting,it should be able to look good on a poster. Here,I am on cp_gullywash,went outside of the map to have some kind of desert feel.

Step #2:Character Posing
You're going to want to go to the big plus sign on the top left, and click"Create animation set for New Model". You will then see this:

Type "hwm" in there to get all the classes models.

When spawned, the classes will look like this:

Floating. Which of course,is terrible poster positioning. First, you're going to want to click the middle of the circle around the Model, hold down shift, then move. Holding down shift keeps them on the floor.

Once on the floor, right click the model name in the box on the left.(ex.medic1)And go to import, then sequence. This should pop up:

For this poster,I will have the idle pose. Feel free to see the different poses.
Step #3:Adding cosmetics/weapons
So of course, you're gonna want hats. So right click the model name again, and go to "Add team Fortress items". That simple.

Step #4:Moving bones

What the heck is he looking at? Sure ain't the camera. So we're going to right click dat name again, and go to Rigs,as shown below:

Once you have the rig, left click the plus to the left of the name, and this should pop up:

We're going to go to rigbody, and we're gonna rotate Medic's head towards the camera.

Step #5:Camera Settings

So we're going to go back to that sexy plus button, and go to teh one for existing elements. Click whatever camera number you have.(probably 1)

Field of view is the same thing as you scrolling mouse button 3. Focal Distance is what is blurred in the background. The purple area is the area that will be blurred, and the non-purple part will stay the same. Aperture is how blurred the background will be. Putting it high will making blurry, whilst making it low will less blurred.

Step #6:Saving

Go to File>Export>Poster

Switch to png, feel free to change the location of the export.

Step #7:Editing
Use a program such as photoshop to improve how your poster will look. I use pixlr, free and no download. Safe as well.

Once your photo is opened, press CTRL+M to get Curves. You can look through the list to see which effect looks best with your poster.

Step #8:Upload!

Upload that sexy poster to your artwork and see what people think! Should also look better when you upload it.

If this helped, please rate up and favorite! Would be greatly appreciated!

Be sure to check out my other posters!

+CptEevee That wouldn't be the issue. The + is right on the left of the model name. It has to be there.

+CptEevee Make sure the rig is rig_biped_simple, and to pose the bones, you click the plus by the object's name, and go to whatever you want. If not then I don't think I can help amigo.

+CptEevee How so? It's pretty elaborate, so I don't know how it doesn't help.
