Summary
Fine Sweeper is a Minesweeper game with additional features such as a campaign mode, item drops and, of course, achievements. And I feel that even casual games like Fine Sweeper deserve to look and feel better than some clunky Windows UI from ‘95 with programmer art.

What’s wrong with Microsoft Minesweeper anyway?
Ever cursed Minesweeper because you were so close but then stepped on an unfortunate mine? I know that I did. Fiercely. That's why there's a extra-life mechanic in Fine Sweeper, so a little mistake won’t let you pay the Ultimate Price.

Fine Sweeper also is divided into levels consisting of rooms that get increasingly harder but also offer more pickups for you to keep going.

Also, the graphics look much nicer (I hope), there's some music and overall a much more polished envisioning of the game while staying true to the original mechanics.

Plus Fine Sweeper got a bunch of achievements for you.

I'm also pondering to implement a high-score function, provided I make it through Greenlight.

Features
  • Engaging Campaign Mode
  • Level Progression
  • Item drops that help you
  • Original Soundtrack by Seph Carissa
  • Custom Mode for your own challenge
  • Did I mention achievements?

Why should I vote for this?
Because you want to rekindle your old love for that Windows game that cost you so many hours? Because you feel there are not enough casual games on Steam? Because you want to give a lone indie developer a digital fist bump? Because you wanna troll me into really finishing the game? That's why :)

Malurous: If you head over to the community hub of the game, there's a whole discussion thread devoted to that topic. Long story short: I'll make it optional in the next patch.

Very intriguing, but dropped it for now after a couple of rounds, the question marks are too annoying. Hoping for an option like on Windows Minesweeper to turn them off, they kill the flow of the game, especially on fast levels.

@gpt999 @Rudivdw: Done! :) Implemented chording both via middle-click as well as via right click as in the Windows 3.11 Minesweeper and described here [www.minesweepers.org]

I can add to what Rud said, the sweeping feature is core of minesweeper and is the difference between a 10 minute run and a 2 minute run, the game is much funner when your focusing on speed instead of making sure you don't miss-click

Ahhh man, that would be great! In Minesweeper it worked with both a middle click and if you click both buttons at the same time - made for some quick runs! ;)

@Rudi: I wasn't aware of that, probably because my mouse back than was lacking a third button. But it sounds like a feature that helps you staying in the flow of sweeping. I'll check it out and see whether I can pop it in. :)

HI PixelProphecy - I voted and well done for getting greenlit :D I was just wondering, Minesweeper had a feature where you can middle click on a number, and if that block already has the right amount of mines revealed in the surrounding blocks, it would automatically "click" the remainder of the unclicked blocks - I tried doing this with Fine Sweeper, but it doesn't work - is this a feature already, or perhaps a planned one? If not, can I suggest it? :) thanks and well done once again!
