Copenhagen Gamified v0.3

Cleaned up map of Copenhagen with added natural resources and highway connection in starting tile. A bit flatter than real life, but not by a whole lot.

- cleaned up construction artefacts from source height-map
- smoothed the map in various places
- cleaned up the shore-lines
- raised some areas in the southern part, because they were at 0 height according to height-map
- removed man-made harbours, canals and some of the smaller land-areas too
- left man-made lakes and merged them into one (leftovers from the former moat around Copenhagen)

- added fertile land (pretty authentic)
- added forests (somewhat authentic if man had not settled/meddled here before)
- added ore and oil (totally fictitious but adds playability)

Maxed out connections in/out of map.

Gallery and further description.

Thanks man (Nox is hellasketchy). What an awesome comment.
You strike exactly the thing I was after, which is why there's a "gamified" in the title. I tried using more realistic data... it just wasn't nice to me. Also doesn't make much sense if the area was never built before you do so in the game.
Really appreciate you taking the time to comment. Hope the enjoyment continues.

I really like this one. It's the best out of all the København maps in my opinion. It's fairly realistic while being really playable at the same time. What I like most is that it's easy to start. You can just connect your roads to the ones that lead into the first piece. You made that really well. All the other København maps are really poorly made (due to wanting to be as realistic as possible) when it comes down to the roads and especially it's accessability. Good job, thank you very much for this.

@Chrisser000 Thank you! I just couldn't find a map that had the canals at a good enough detail-level to produce this area convingsingly in the editor. They ended up looking super artificial in an otherwise natural landscape. Problem of course is that you can't make the canals in game. Might have another go at it later. :)

@runihansen13 You're right - they used to be natural lakes, but were then changed to unnatural. They were part of the defence system though and could be used to flood the moat.

@Guss Griswold Thought the European building theme was available to use on the map? If it isn't it would be a nice thing to do for sure.

Hi, have you thought about making a version of copenhagen with the European building theme?
Runi13 Jul 3, 2015 @ 1:32pm
Those lakes aren't what's left of a giant moat. Those lakes were outside the city walls. The old moat runs through present day Tivoli. Those lakes were much bigger in the middle ages.

Good job!

I'm wondering though, why you chose to not include the canals around Christianshavn and the inner city. If you do include them at some point, I'd love to play this map :)

Please do Virgatus, and thank you kindly for your report on this so far. I will try to replicate it once I know exactly how your set up is.

I didn't play the game yesterday, but will send screen shots when i get on tonight if you still need it. I could always move my treatment plants up to the coast to see if it fixes the flooding. I originally planed on putting them down south on the river, but decided against it because of the lack of good current to wash it down stream.

Hereby done. Increased water-capacity of lake water-sources and lowered the water a tad.

If it's the lake I guess I can up the water sources drainage-capability. In RL it's unnatural lakes left over from the giant moat that once surrounded all of Copenhagen.
