The Game

Seeders is a relaxing 2D puzzle platformer, with more focus on puzzles and less on platforming. Finding your lost friend and saving the skateboard park from demolition only scratches the surface of the wonderful adventure that lies ahead.

Features
  • single player mode
  • local co-op mode with completely separate levels specially designed for two players
  • clean pixel graphics
  • support for various controllers
  • support for older graphics cards and computers
  • integrated level editor
  • 100+ puzzles

Players who want extra challenge can try to collect all the hats, which requires solving some optional difficult puzzles, solving existing puzzles in different ways or discovering hidden areas.

100% indie

This is a one-man project. I did all the graphics and programming myself so far, and plan to keep it that way to the end. I might hire someone to create music/sound effects though as I really want the game to be great in every aspect.

Development status

I'm 5 months into development now. The game engine and level editor are complete and the game works on Windows, Linux and Mac. I optimized it to run on low-spec machines and even integrated Intel cards.

The first chapter is complete, featuring 19 puzzles, which is about 2 hours of gameplay. The plan is for this to be be about 10% of the final game in single-player mode.

Co-op mode in the demo only has a few puzzles to demonstrate what it will play/look like. It has a completely separate set of puzzles, specially designed for two players. It will have many more puzzles in the final game.

Controllers are fully supported. Some standard ones like xbox 360 controller work out of the box, others can be configured within the game. In co-op mode you can play with two controllers or one controller and a keyboard.

I plan to add achievements as well, because there are very interesting things you can do, like get stuck or die in unusual ways. The physics puzzles are open to experimentation which can lead to both frustrating and funny situations and achievements would fit those very well.

System requirements

OS:
Windows XP,Vista,7,8 or newer
Mac OSX 10.6 or newer
Linux Ubuntu 14.04 LTS

CPU: Intel Pentium 4 minimum, Core2Duo recommended
HDD: 100MB of hard disk space
RAM: 512MB minimum, 2GB recommended
GPU: OpenGL 1.x (all cards manufactured in the last 10 years should work, even integrated ones)

Single player game can be played with keyboard. Co-op requires at least one controller. Other multiplayer modes require 1-4 controllers, depending on number of players. Only one player can use the keyboard.

Spoilers ahead

A long time ago on a planet not so far away, an alien species decided to colonize the galaxy. They created semi-autonomous seeder spaceships that fly to other planets, seed them with plants to alter the atmosphere to their physiology and then create a wormhole-like portal to transfer the colonists across. One of those ships crash landed into Earth, but something went wrong and all its systems got shut down.

10000 years later, a construction company digging on that site accidentally triggers the ship's sensors and...
Well, that was enough spoilers already. I'll let you discover the rest on your own.

Thanks everyone for voting. Now the easier part comes: finishing the game. It's a long road ahead, but I want it to be great so be patient. I have about 30 puzzles now and want to build at least 70 more. Also, there's some great original music on the way as well.

@Bi-Winning: did you actually play the demo? The game is not about platforming at all, it's about puzzles. The games that make you stop and think while still allowing you to experiment with the world are really rare these days.
