S.O.R.S is out this week!
Update on progress
  • 2 new scanning mechanics
  • Error points are now generated based on how you move the scanner, rather than just randomly
  • New story elements
  • Easy mode added
  • New treatment room introduction animation
  • New treatment room background

And some more minor things (text edits, cheatword updates etc).

Overall I'm really excited about the steam version of the game - especially the new scanning mechanics for leukemia and the false colour images. One of the mistakes in the initial release was to base too many of the game mechanics around luck. Now, however, they're all focussed around the player's skill; playing the game will hopefully feel more like you're a doctor controlling a delicate scanner (whilst also under pressure to hit targets and save patients, and survive the story ;) )

Anyway, thanks again for your patience (and of course your lovely support for the game :) )

We're on the home stretch!

Release date: March 2015
Welcome, Doctor...
SORS is a sci-fi doctor simulator where you must help diagnose patients whilst someone is hacking the hospital and disrupting your shifts. Interact with your colleagues and make decisions via email. The choices you make, like who to trust, affect the outcome of the game, which challenges you face and what help you get.

Inspired by Papers, Please, SORS gives you increasingly challenging tasks during your shifts with patients, alongside a narrative that explores the tough moral decisions that face a doctor in this future, where the human population of the earth has grown to breaking point. Mankind now lives in skyscrapers that cover the earth, and prisoners are condemned to live aboard floating prison ships so they don't take up valuable room for law-abiding citizens.

Game features:
  • 6 different endings based on player choice
  • Depending on player choice, gameplay varies and different challenges are experienced
  • Chat to patients to reduce complaints
  • Inspired by real science. Information in the game is based on real disease/treatment information

I just had my first view of this. I am sad I missed it since it got on Steam or even before. Look forward to your release!

@info - thanks for the feedback. Yeah actually a couple of doctors played it and have said the same thing - you need to talk to the patient etc to get feedback. Unfortunately as this is a game I've had to tweak things slightly so it's quicker and easier to play!

I'm about to add a post above now that we're greenlit - but yes I'm thinking about putting something like easy mode in, to help people with the scanning part. All suggestions welcome!

I like the game, however:
usually doctors talk to the patient first to gather syptoms etc. in order to decide which tests to perform and also if the patient is really sick or just pretending
also doctors usually only get paid when they perform an action like surgery, prescribing a drug, etc. and if they screw up they get paid more because complications require more work ;)

Havent played long enough because im a bit clumsy with the scanning part but thats just a mini game anyways, maybe you can remove it completly (optionally) and just give people a lab report to read and analyze

I purchased it at Indie Game Stand & enjoying playing it. I like how it's story driven via checking your in-game emails.
