Progress Update: Work on Volcanic Meltdown enemies!
Brock Crocodile is Greenlit!
Brock Crocodile is a 2D platformer inspired by 16 bit mascot platformers of the 1980s/1990s in gameplay and aesthetics. Players will take on the role of the titular hero, archaeologist Brock Crocodile, equipped with his trusty whip and fruit gun that will help to overcome any obstacle. Swing, jump and blast your way across Crocodillian Island's numerous locations filled with advance and excitement. In Brock Crocodile, relive a bit of the 90s again with hectic boss fights, massive multilayered stages, 16 bit (With a hint of 8 bit!) music and above all else, classic platforming action!

Caught in the middle of protecting an ancient artifact and a sudden crime wave, he'll journey from his quiet town of Crocoh Lake to the badlands in the East where the Fearsome Four lay in wait, a group of hired master criminals who are bringing anarchy to Crocodillian Island, Brock's sets off to face these dastardly villains and their employer, the mysterious Wize Dark.

- Use Brock's whip to overcome both the baddies and the obstacles standing in his way.

- Master the stages and learn the best route for the best time, score or treasure!

- Visit the hubtowns to learn more secrets of Brock's world or purchase ammo for his fruit gun or whip.

- Explore the land of Crocodillian Island, a continent sized country filled with danger and mystery but gems and treasures too!

- Conquer a legion of baddies from dino skeleton warriors to flame throwing robo-duck fighters.

- Take on the Fearsome Four and their associates, the baddest bosses in all of Crocodillian Island. Stop their reign of havoc and faceoff against their shadowy benefactor, Wize Dark.

The graphics seem kind of busy, but it reminds me of games on the Genesis.

Hi! I'm the composer for Brock Crocodile. Thanks for your feedback and interest in the game!

In order to provide the best experience possible, I wanted to make sure the game music was 100% authentic for the exact same reasons you stated - "fake" Genesis music would be kind of lame, right? If we're going to make an awesome 2D MegaDrive/Genesis inspired platformer, we better go all the way! What you are hearing, is in fact, hardware playback from an authentic Genesis/MegaDrive console!

If you'd like to hear any of the other tracks for the game (all recorded directly from hardware), check out there:

Again, thank you for your interest and feedback! We're sure the finished product will be something you will enjoy!

The genesis music isn't fake, the composer actually put it onto a flashcart and recorded it from a real console.

I think the character portraits are kind of gross, and i'm not a fan of the fake genesis music.

However, this is like, a real game, and it's got real stuff in it

So, yes. I'd buy it.

But there's so many of these retro things already. In fact I think there's more retro revivalist games now than what they were inspired by. Please, these things belong on newgrounds or kongregate. not steam. steam is flooded.

Me encantan los juegos al estilo retro. Votado.
