FIRMA Demo Released and Race Competition
Release date: Mid 2015
FIRMA is a virtual reality, arcade sim where you take control of the fast and manoeuvrable TL-6 Transit Lander over a hundred years in the future. Inspired by the control and handling based gameplay of Jupiter Lander with the heavy industrial aesthetics and pick up and play feel of the original Doom, FIRMA sees you play through a variety of missions in a single player, story led campaign on the Moon, Mars and a surprise, dystopian finale.

Racing through chasms and under bridges, exploring hostile terrain to recover essential parts from crashed space craft, delivering vital supplies to scientific bases are just a few of the typical missions you must face. However, the dangers of the solar system are not limited to the terrain. As you progress through the game all is not as it seems with your employers and their pay masters as you are approached to spy and ultimately uncover the truth behind FIRMA’s terraforming projects.

With the VR headset forming such an integral part of the FIRMA gameplay, a huge amount of time has been spent perfecting the controls and handling of the game. FIRMA makes full use of the Xbox 360 / Xbox One control pad and as such, like that you’d find on all performance vehicles, the precise controls of the TL-6 Transit Lander are both a joy to use and a real skill to master. Familiarising yourself with the controls presents an initially challenging learning curve which soon levels out, then stretches onward and upwards as continued play rewards faster times and even better player control of this fun craft to fly.

FIRMA has been designed and built from the ground up for modern virtual reality systems and is currently exclusive to the Oculus Rift. Making full use of the unlimited field of vision, you are forced to look up as you climb through obstacle rich dig sites and peer underneath the craft as you make deliveries to tricky holding platforms perched on the edge of a cliff. The worlds of FIRMA are truly immersive.

The game demo will be available for download on the 1st Feb 2015!

This was my favorite oculus demo by a long shot. But we haven't heard anything for a long time, has this project been abandoned?

I've tried many Oculus Rift enabled games and demos and this is one of the better ones I've played. Good graphics, good controls, good game play and a very immersive experience. I'll definitely buy this if it comes out on steam.
